Trump to Cut Food Stamps

The best thing for the poor is kill lock downs. No one obeys them anyway. I bet if Trump delayed the 2020 election to 2024 citing the coronavius concerns; it{coronavirus} would cease to even exist in Democrat states.

I know a lot of Republicans that are starting to get concerned with what Trump is doing and what is going on

Why? Like false data used by virus lockdown mongers? We were told the gold status Lancet study on antimalaria drugs was THE last word on the matter. Now the authors and the NEJM were forced to withdraw the crap study. Because "experts" aren't. They are con men feeding unscrupulous media companies peddling fear and fables. Think for yourself.

So what does this have to do with Dems?
lets see from what I see most Republican states are opening up faster then the Dem states and they are seeing the number of people getting this are going up and states like NY that are doing it a lot slower and the numbers aren't going up as fast
People have to realize this is something to be taken with more then a grain of salt, people die from this and just letting everybody go out and do what they want will only make it come back
Yes I am sick and tired of not being able to go out and have a few with my friends , and I would like to see all of them again, but right now it will be at home with friends
at least if I do get it I will know who I have had contact with ( on the most part , I may not but I may have an idea )
one more thing people think once you have had this you can't get it again well I have read that there are several people that did have it got out of the Hosp. clean for weeks and it came back
What I worry about is if it will be like in the 1920's when they thought we got over one pandemic and people went out in mass and it came back again even worse

From one left wing perspective, the democrats got a Black guy elected to try to get healthcare reform passed (and turn a Recession around) but the right wing had nothing but repeal instead of Any better solutions at lower cost. What they did pass was deficit busting tax cuts which does nothing to help the Poor.

Any state is free to raise their MW. The problem with a higher MW (for entry level workers - now about 3% of the US workforce) is that it requires raising many (most?) other wages along with it in order to maintain an (economic) incentive to have higher skilled workers.

I don't know about other cities(quick google search is showing a long list of US school districts continuing to serve meals to children) but CPS here, never stopped serving meals to children, besides a brief shutdown the other day due to the looting. And even then, a list of independent mom and pop eating establishments stepped in to provide meals free of charge to children. I grew up in a single parent home and for a stretch, without the lunches that my school provided, I wouldn't have eaten. I know what it's like to go more than 2 days without food which is why I empathize. So where are the mega-giant restaurants that receive corporate welfare? Why aren't they stepping in to help feed children during this crisis. They sure have the capital and infrastructure to do so.

so what; higher paid Labor pays more in Taxes and creates more in Demand under capitalism. a simple cost of living adjustment.

Why all the negatives about poor people...There is always that stereotype..Again, life is (people are) complicated

Sometimes there seems to be no explanation for why...say some person can't get a job but the fact remains he has no job...hardly matters why when primary problem is this

He still has to eat

Still has to be safe from the weather

What kind of country destroy ppl who don't look too ...perfect... according to ..

Ppl are so busy judging....don't have any spare time to actually help...

Which...I don't consider throwing $$$$ at people as helping so vis a vis government assistance, I don't like either party's "solutions"

Ironically, Thats exactly a phrase you would find on a bumper sticker. Show me a person who cant find a job for months and I will get them one. Even in pandemic times, there are 5 million job openings in the country. In good times, theres 7 million. Or hey, make your own job, dont sit around waiting on someone to 'give' you one.

The problem for many of those school districts has been distribution. Lockdowns have cut the actual number of meals served by as much as 80%. No one is bussing meals to students. It only works when the students live within walking distance of the participating schools.

What we have seen here is local groups like Meals on Wheels, expand their reach, and local church and other volunteer groups stepping into the void. You are right, it is the mom and pop sources who have stepped into the breach. Local bodegas here give free sandwiches, a fresh fruit and a soft drink to kids who present a school id. No one asked them to do that. Years back I invested in a bakery that ended up with a major school contract which accounts for 70% of its revenues today. It has been making free deliveries to bodegas and similar establishments which are feeding children. The primary owner and baker, is thrilled to be returning something to the community and is thankful he can afford to do so for at least a year, before he needs to seek outside assistance.

I don't think we need or want the big fast food chains feeding our kids more burgers and fries.
