$100 Billion in SBA loans. Another $100 Billion in Economic Injury Grants. Roughly $26 Billion in Disaster Relief loans. That's the kind of stuff that will help RIGHT NOW (and I have clients applying already). It's a damned shame we had to get 46 pages into the 1432 page monstrosity before anything like it showed up.

Fair assessment. I think my blood pressure is something like 460/295 right now.

I have been skimming and I just cant stop shaking my head in amazement at what they crammed into this. I mean, taking advantage of a situation is one thing, but there is no chance in hell this was made with the thought it could pass. I first thought maybe it was ask for everything so you can settle on something, but this is just fantasy land.

It's not like they are asking for their Supreme Court nominee to be brought up for confirmation within a year or anything crazy like that.

That item, no, but LIKE that? Tons of items that they could never pass properly even if Mitch wasn't blocking everything he did not write.

And that's just the first I came to on page 9 of 1436 pages.

$258 million to build broadband isn't taking care of people who have been told that the industry they work in is now a public health hazard and must be destroyed.
Trouble is, you seem to lack understanding of the need for rural broadband. If people need to telework, they need broadband access.

The point is, these asks were probably born of frustration. McConnell has been a one-man plague on this country for years. When you do that, you don't get to cry, "but this is an EMERGENCY! Let's just get this one done!"

If he drops his "no strings" position - and everybody knows what will happen if corporations are given money with no strings attached - the bill will pass without all of the unrelated stuff.

But if you look at it, most of the "unrelated stuff" deserves to be passed at some point. But it never will, because, McConnell.

No it is actually the BEST time to shove it down his throat, and I hope McConnell chokes on it, too.
He should have been made to choke all this stuff down a long time ago.
He wouldn't even allow votes on this stuff.

He is the bottleneck, he is the cancer upon the land, he is Trump's human shield.

Without reading them, I'd bet that most of these add-ons that McConnell never bothered to bring up for a vote are similarly worthy projects. And this kind of stimulus is going to be needed for recovery.

    Of course it will.
For example, now that a lot of people have figured out that their jobs can be done from home, many of them won't see the need for an office anymore, they won't see the need to commute endless hours on the freeways TO those offices either.
They WILL however, need reliable broadband access wherever they go.

This crisis is going to drastically change the way business is done forever no matter what happens and no matter how quickly it happens, good or bad.
