It’s not a matter of President x being worse or better.

This is not an event caused by economic policy and thus assigning fault to a presidents economic policy is not an argument.

If this had happened while Obama was president and unemployment spiked no one would say it’s his fault.

Repubs most certainly would have, along with Obola. Republicans blamed Obama for 2.2 million jobs lost in his first three months, remember. In fact, they blamed him for another 2.2 million jobs lost between the election and inauguration.

Republies continued to blame Obama while unemployment peaked at 10.4%. Republies have been taking credit for unemployment coming down ever since. Republies: building on their $22 trillion total accumulated debt.

True, it's not his economic policy but it's a President's fault for ignoring his agencies warning him in January and then the whole world warning him in February and then even some right-wingers warning him in first half of March.

As a result, we have complete failure on testing, proper containment, and preparedness for necessary equipment.

Plus, a complete re-education of cult members required after months of saying this is just a cold and a Democratic hoax... Re-education of people like this one...

I don't blame Obama for housing crisis as he was mainly playing the cards he was dealt. Now establishment politicians I do blame. However, you can't really compare these two periods IMO. This virus is a worldwide event not of our own doing. The housing crisis and following recession were very much our own doing.

I guarantee they will be furious over the deficit and debt. Because the deficit alone will be $3 trillion.

Obama had majorities and passed 1 stimulus and lost it in 10. i think something similar will happen biden will pass maybe 1 stimulus which the gop will obstruct in the name of less govt. After that they will take over in 2022.

The coming Congress will not be as dominated by the health insurance industry.

The GOP is tainted as the Congress that once again crashed the economy because of its policies from 2010 to 2018 as it died from 1994 to 2006.

Additionally, the trial and convictions of Trump and Barr and so many other GOP and Trump figures will be well underway by elections in 2022.
 
Thank God Trump killed the TransPacific Partnership. We would really be up the creek having to get all our orders from China via Amazon.

Comparing this to any of those economic events seems pretty irrational.

I can't see it more than $2.5 trillion for FY 2020. I see predict it averaging $1.5 trillion for the next 5 years regardless of which party is in power.
 
Looks like even the absolutely crazy predictions of 2MM unemployed were way low. It’s over 3MM this week, and that won’t even reflect most of the layoffs.
