The United States is currently more than $23 trillion dollars in debt and that amount only covers debt which is on the books and does not include the tens of trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities which are very realm but which have been craftily kept off the public books for unclear reasons. How did we get in this mess? There is one main factor which covers all the others and that is government spending. American politicians typically show no concern about properly covering the costs associated with their spending plans, and that has led to our current debt danger.
In spite of all the many ways government money is wasted, I want here to focus on one major issue which is the issuance of grants. The way the system has been abused by political insiders in the issuing of grants without proper justification or oversight is appalling and amounts to legalized robbery of the US Treasury. The Bible teaches us that humans are born sinners and most remain sinners as they grow older. We have greedy and corrupt government workers and politicians who are taking liberties with government money to enrich themselves, their friends and family members, their personal programs and goals and so forth. This should be stopped. Such fraudulent misappropriation of government resources is criminal.
Rahm Emanuel once said, "We should never let a crisis go to waste." What did he mean? He was talking about using disasters, crises, or alarms to get Congress to open the federal checkbook to spending recklessly in supposed support of 'disaster relief' for example. America spent billions on disaster relief in Haiti and less than a tenth of the money actually made it into realistic rebuilding projects in Haiti after the greedy scammers siphoned the lion's share of the money for themselves.
Bill Ayers was made overseer of more than $150 million dollars in grant money for the purpose of "helping the Chicago school kids." What did he do with that money? He put on a show, did some things for schools which amounted to not much more than window dressing, and bought himself a million dollar home from where he introduced Obama to the American political world.
Here is a story about a black democrat from Philadelphia. He was a respected math professor. He made a good salary. And he somehow got a government grant for the supposed purpose of doing cancer research. He could have been doing global warming research or any one of a number of other 'cherished' causes, but he applied for money to do cancer research.
The problem with this guy is he got caught, something that happens far too rarely when scammers are stealing government money. I suppose if he had been more prominent in the political world he may have nerve been caught. Look at how $1 billion US dollars disappeared into the cesspool of Ukrainian corruption right under the 'watchful' eyes of Hunter and Joe Biden. More examples of great robberies of the US Treasury.
A former Drexel University professor faces criminal charges after allegedly stealing $185,000 in research grant money and using it at adult entertainment venues and on purchases for iTunes, meals and other expenses.
What a rich, rewarding, comfortable life crooks can live with stolen federal money.
