Trump told Gary Cohn to 'print money' to lower the national debt, according to Bob Woodward's book

Obama would have nothing to do with quantitative easing. That's all on the federal reserve.

And yet Trump supporters here gripe about it in connection with Obama -- accusing Obama of printing money -- in spite of Trump calling for more of it.

For example, this ironic post from three days ago:

Obama was clueless. Sure, he inherited a recession, but all he did was borrow and print a bunch of cash and inject it into the economy like a junkie with a needle.
He didn't actually fix anything... because he was clueless about how the economy works.
I'm sure he was a very good community organiser.

Two stupid ideas do not equate to a smart idea. Just so ya know.....

This definitely was a big boner by Trump. One of the biggest boners (if true).

However, Democrats are the party of inflation.

You : I WANT to believe...in rumors.

Bob Woodward is not known for writing "rumors". He is known for his Pulitzer prize winning journalism though. I don't think he makes stuff up.

And yet, his economic performance has been nothing less that outstanding. Practicality trumps "theories" all the time. Funny thing is that economists spend most of their time arguing those micro and macro theories amongst themselves.

He's buying that performance with increased deficit spending, just like Reagan did. Neither one of them has (or had) a clue how or why it worked, but that doesn't stop Republican voters from thinking they are both geniuses (and temporarily forgetting about the debt).

GDP = C + I + G

But when AOC suggests that the government spend more money on infrastructure, healthcare, and the environment, those same idiots scream that she's going to bankrupt the country.

The Fed also knows that without inflation the economy collapses, did you?

....

Yes, buying it with our children's futures, and then putting a big drag on it with his trade wars, and then calling on the Fed to inject some more sugar into the economy to cover his ass.

Mycroft won't believe it until he reads it at Conservative Treehouse.

It doesn't really affect our children's futures, but it is hypocritical as hell for Republicans to whine about Democratic spending proposed by AOC. The GND would do far more for the economy than trump's tax cuts for the rich have done.

Heard this all before. Didn't buy it then, still don't.

Or reply to every thread that in the slightest way may make their Master look bad.

shrug...

Someone has to inject some reality into your fantasy.

Don't cry.

His whole book was rumors.

There was NOTHING substantiated by fact. It was all a "he said"...and the "he" was never identified. That is the definition of a rumor.

Well, that particular poster is unequivocally wrong.

[h=1]Trump told Gary Cohn to 'print money' to lower the national debt, according to Bob Woodward's book[/h]If anything proves that this guy doesn't know what he's doing -- or even has a basic understanding of monetary policy, this is it.

As we anything critical of Trump, whats the source? More anonymous officials? Was it Cohn?

Cohn on Tuesday pushed back on the Woodward book. The former Goldman Sachs banker told Axios: "This book does not accurately portray my experience at the White House. I am proud of my service in the Trump Administration, and I continue to support the President and his economic agenda."

If anything, it would prove that Trump sometimes listens to advisors who know more than him. Since he didnt do it. So really just more meaningless "news".

Woodward isn't making it up.
It also doesn't take a PhD in economics to know that printing money doesn't lower the debt. But I can understand you sticking up for the guy who gets to nominate Fed Board members having an astounding lack of knowledge of monetary policy.

Maybe whoever Woodword got that from is making it up. Stop believing everything you see in the news.

Or maybe you are suffering from cognitive dissonance by dismissing evidence that is contrary to what you decided you want to believe?

Woodward is a seasoned journalist and has a reputation to protect. You can bet your last dollar that if he gets a statement from someone he gets what that person said verified by another person. That's what journalists do, get corroboration.

Or maybe you want to believe anything that confirms your bias. All we have here is a journalists claims someone said something which you dont like. It is meaningless like most of the allegations about Trump.

Democrats loved truthful Woodward - before the hated lying Woodward - before that loved truthful Woodward - before the hated lying Woodward - before they loved truthful Woodward before that hated lying Woodward.

That's not as bad as Pelosi telling Hillary Clinton to just have Donald Trump assassinated. Someone told me that he was told by someone that Nancy Pelosi said that.
Um, yeah. Someone told the person who told you who made it up.

I thought you thought highly of Woodward? He wrote a bunch of similar stuff about Obama which democrats called lies.
Bob Woodward tells Politico about how an Obama aide "yelled at [him] for about a half hour" and later said he'd "regret" asking the administration tough questions. But did the White House really threaten him? Some people think that Woodward's gone a little too far this time.

I have no reason to think Woodward is or isnt making stuff up. Either way the OP is meaningless.
