Trump asks Cabinet to cut department budgets by 5 percent.

5% is pretty weak. I'd say the vast, vast majority of organizations on the planet could cut 5% of their budget without batting an eye.

I'm waiting to hear how many billions of people are going to die if we don't spend that 5% of sacred government money.

So you won't answer how much more we need to have spent on defense or how far into debt you're willing to put us to get there.

So get off my back about me not answering your questions.

We spend way too much on defense. We can't make huge cuts now, because too many people are caught up in the defense machinery. It would be too contractionary to our economy to make big cuts. But we can quit adding to it. That would be a good start. When there are no more homeless veterans, we can talk again about finding some more money to spend on the war machine.

I know what we are spending and have no problem with it at all, you have no clue but because you have been indoctrinated well it is too much without having a clue as to what it is or what it takes to protect our country. Eliminate most of it and you don't solve the budget problems then when we are attacked like 9/11 you can always blame the current administration for not protecting you, better yet let one of your family members be killed by terrorists and see how you feel

You really have no idea what are state and local responsibilities vs. Federal responsibilities. Most homeless vets want to be homeless as my city alone has done wonders creating safe homes and environments for them only to be rejected. So please educate yourself instead of giving us leftwing bull****

We spend too much but you won't say how much we should spend?? How typical

With Republicans controlling the government purse strings, Conservative doesn't care how much the national debt/deficit balloon.

Neither Trump nor this 115th GOP Congress gives a crap about the future. They're gonna spend like drunken sailors and continue to complain about the evils of Social Security, Medicare, etc.

As usual you jump in with no answers just more charges, I posted the line items in the budget, show me your budget for this country instead of whining and complaining about something you are clueless about. SS and Medicare have no business on budget, they are funded by FICA, so NEXT?

I answered that.

For now we should maintain. Not add. Our economy is too wrapped up in the war machine so we can't do any big cuts. That would hurt too many people. But we can stop adding more.

Of course you still won't answer how much more you think we need or how much debt you're willing to put us in.

Our current budget is over 4 TRILLION dollars, how much of that goes to that "war machine?" When you figure it out you will also figure out how much debt we will have if you eliminated the entire amount. Give it a shot and show that you understand data?

I'm done with you. I understand data. I have a masters in applied math. I'm pretty good with data.

And I understand an abusive, personally insulting poster. I don't play with posters like you. Not for long. Your time is up.

For someone who claims to understanding data you haven't posted any to support your claim, just bogus charges without support. Run, baby, run!

Trump asks Cabinet to cut department budgets by 5 percent. Fox News Published on Oct 17, 2018

Well, here is a first good step toward his promise to cut government spending. Instructing all Secretaries and Dept. heads to come back with 5% (or more) cuts in ALL Federal Department's and Agencies.

Anyone have a problem with this?

I don't. Sounds good if it is followed.

Our defense budget is already bigger than at least the next 7 countries combined. Then Trump twists arms to raise it even higher (while saying money is so tight that he can't give promised raises to government employees). And this is on top of the budget-busting tax cuts which ransomed our children's future while enriching him and his Mar-a-lago set.

And now after hypocritically and unnecessarily adding more than a trillion to our debt, during a time of economic expansion, leaving us in a precarious position for the next contraction, NOW he calls for a 5% cut from departments.

And the OP calls it "a first good step toward his promise to cut government spending."

No, it's not a good first step. A good first step would have been not to have added another trillion to the debt for no good reason. This is just another empty attempt to polish the turd of his cluster**** administration.

Except only 100bn has been added relative to the baseline, not a trillion. And thats because both democrats and republicans voted for additional spending. Revenue is even up a little.

The federal budget deficit was $782 billion in fiscal year 2018, the Congressional Budget Office estimates, $116 billion more than the shortfall recorded in fiscal year 2017

By CBO’s estimate, revenues were about the same and outlays were about 3 percent higher in 2018 than they were in the previous fiscal year.
