Well I will state again I did not suggest we should starve people I suggested that we should concentrate on reducing tax rates both at Federal and Local Level and ensuring that Families can afford to maintain their living standards through work.
Cutting the cost of living through eliminating sales taxes and reducing the burden of taxes on low income househouseholds
If Families retained more of their income they would not need as much welfare
If Food Bills were cheaper we would not need the Food Stamp scheme that is why we need to focus on reducing prices instead of simply handing out more cash benefits and supplementary welfare support which simply do not work..
I was raised in a low income household and am not exactly rolling in dollars having lost my job in the recession I used to more Liberal views on Welfare but through observation, reading, and discussion with others I realised that the welfare system is not solving anything.
First, you need a job, or tax cuts won't matter a bit. Then, you need to eliminate FICA taxes, so the lower end actually benefits. Food is already cheap, and inflation isn't a problem. Finally, we need a jobs program, which means the government has to spend more money, whether they take in more taxes or not.
There are not enough jobs for everybody, even if you expect the unemployed to move their families (at great expense), gain the required skills (also at great expense), and overcome any other obstacles to work for whatever tiny wages are available.
Before you blame welfare for joblessness, you need to properly assess the situation. The job market stinks, and it has stunk for years. Yanking welfare and other assistance from people isn't going to result in more jobs.
