Trump hasn’t changed the Republican Party. It never cared about the deficit.

The left has never cared.

Spending taxpayer money has always been a means to an end for them.

What end? Bringing down the uninsured level in this country to the lowest level in its history?

What "end" do republicans do it for?

Making you purchase a policy or pay a fine while the rest of us pay outrageous premiums? Who do you and Obama think you were kidding?

I don't think the deficit is a priority for either the Republicans or Democrats, which makes sense. Each side wants their stuff, and each side wants to cut the stuff of the other side, but each side going to prioritize getting their stuff over cutting the stuff of the other side. That means that we end up with getting the stuff of both sides, which we can't afford. I think the way this is going to be changed eventually is a politician, likely relatively unknown or at least not a front runner, will run on seriously cutting the debt and will get elected. The electorate is going to have to start being scared off by big spending (Democrats) or tax cuts (Republicans), and I think that will happen at some point. And it needs to be where each side focuses on punishing their own side. Republicans who leave the Republican Party and Democrats who leave the Democratic Party make the most impact on change.
