After temporary shutdown, Congress passes two-year spending deal

Ryan will bankrupt Social Security. That's why the republican party is okay with all this spending IMO. They won't raise taxes so to balance the budget they will gut and destroy all the social programs. I don't think it will be good for the country in the long run.

They won't dare bankrupt Social Security. Old folks vote, and there is getting to be quite a lot of us.

The Boomer generation is currently peaking and will begin to subside soon. The Gen X peak will be quite a bit less than the Boomer peak, and will have the larger Millennial generation supporting them, and then the Millennial peak will be larger than the Boomers. I'm not sure what the ratios will be when the Millennials retire, but the consensus seems to be that the 65+ demographic will continue to include larger proportions of the US population, after a slight stall for several years as the last of the Boomers retire, and the beginning of Gen X enters retirement age.

Please see the link in #6. There is no longer a constituency for fiscal discipline.

Rand Paul made the point clearly, as he caused the govt shutdown. I agree with him.

Yep........

It's just a number. To call it "dishonest" is silly. The point is that interest on prior debt was never a large part of Obama's budgets. And don't forget that with each passing year of his administration that interest was increasingly paid on debt he himself had accumulated.
But rates were very low. Some countries had negative rates. A 2% increase and it becomes real money. LOL!

There are many Republicans including Rand Paul. Constituency is shrinking only among idiots who don't know that paying interest and principle on debt is always eating more and more out of our standard of living.

Yep. You kids just better get used to it, or else get involved and go vote.

you want us to get used to getting ripped off for your welfare? Is democracy merely theft to a liberal?

It's for your welfare, too, or don't you think you will ever be old?

each American could retire with a 1.5 million estate if SS didn't steal 15% of their lifetime earnings. Everything about liberalism is corrupt!

You mean you don't remember what you said?

It was:

and I said that they still can, and many do.

average Americans could retire with $1.4 million estate if liberal govt did not steal 15% of their lifetime income at gunpoint!!
