For every Amazon package it delivers, the Postal Service loses $1.46

An old salesman joke: A salesman says, "We sell below cost." A customer asks how he can do that. "Simple," he says. "We buy below cost."

For a day or so last week, Jeff Bezos passed Bill Gates as the richest man in the world. And that's pretty much how he did it.
The Postal Service is required to deliver to every mailbox or mail slot at the same level and price for everyone. Now that mail has receded, and package delivery has grown, the numbers no longer work. So as taxpayers, we are subsidizing Amazonís delivery expense.

Being that the Postal Service is a constitutional entity, it will be an open question as to how this changes, but in fairness, it needs to change.
Democrats today are the snarling dictators we fought wars to depose.
What was a difference of political opinion now makes someone illegitimate as a person
Democrats feel so sorry for the world, they want it to move here.
Unlike our last four presidents, Trump delivers results.

Just like clockwork - Trump complains about the USPS, and now all his minions have to complain about it, too.

The corporate state seeks to privatize everything, including our endless wars of empire and economic colonization. Eric Prince took a run at that and he'll be back. What Bezos is, is pretty clear. Buys up the WaPo. Then enters into a deal with the CIA worth 3 times what he paid for the paper. Then puts a CIA operative on the WaPo's editorial board to push more war. America is on an unsustainable path. Watch.

    Amazon uses multiple carriers.

    https://www.quora.com/Does-Amazon-us...-ship-packages

Amazon uses multiple carriers to ship products across the U.S. The choice of carrier depends on various factors such as shipping location, destination location, size of package, value of contents in the package, promised delivery time frame, Amazon Prime vs. Free Super Saver shipping etc.

    A few examples:

    1. Amazon Prime shipping packages are mostly shipped via UPS. In case of destinations not served by UPS, alternate carries like FedEx/DHL are used.
    2. If the estimated delivery date falls on a Saturday, then it is very likely that the package will be shipped via FedEx as UPS doesn't deliver it on Saturdays.
    3. Majority of the Free Super Saver shipping packages are shipped via USPS. In case if the products is expensive or bulky then it gets shipped via UPS.
    4. If the product you ordered is available in a nearby Amazon warehouse (usually within a 40-50 mile radius), they partner with local courier companies such as A1 Courier Services in Philadelphia and Delaware and OnTrac in California.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I'm not a Trump guy, but I prefer UPS over the post office.

The post office is chock full of lazy assholes, and incompetence, and I know this from first hand experience.

Oh I 100% agree with you, there. I hate the USPS. Their package tracking is laughable and their reliability is mediocre at best.

I prefer FedEx over anyone. They seem to be the most reliable - at least to me.

As long as it arrives as it should, I am for paying fellow americans wages they can live on. But the postal service should never come under corporate state control just like the food an water supply should ever come under corporate state control. You folks are going to have to become satisfied with wage suppression and economic manipulation to subdue the masses.

It depends on where you live:

    From the article:

Bezos runs Amazon, which is primarily a shipping business. It relies on the U.S. Postal Service to deliver two-thirds of its packages. In many places now, it locates a depot near a post office, presorts the packages, and delivers them to the post office. The Postal Service, which has a monopoly on last-mile delivery, does the rest.
    Mine come UPS, also.

It's always funny to see conservatives complain about the free market...
