The Koch Brothers Have a Plan to Make the Tax Bill Popular

The biggest winners of Citizens United are Charles and David Koch who have purchased the GOP.

I spent a whole big pile of money on gifts and donations and the ring over the last two months an find that my checking balance is way down compared to September.

My income did not change, but prior to the season of romance and holidays, my checking balance was on the rise. Since then, the balance has been decreasing.

Spending causes debt, not income.

Comparing the expenditures of an individual with the largest economy in the history of the world fails for more reasons than i wish to list. If you want to make the case for expenditure reduction... then by all means, have at it.

We are in the Christmas Season. I also just gave the woman of my dreams an engagement ring.

She accepted, thank you very much, and agreed to grow old with me- the best is yet to be.

Why do I bring this up? Well, as it happens, I spent a whole big pile of money on gifts and donations and the ring over the last two months an find that my checking balance is way down compared to September.

Your checking account balance wouldn't be low if you'd received a $10 million bonus last year.

Unsurprisingly, the billionaire Koch Brothers and their Koch Industries are among the biggest winners in the GOP tax giveaway to the ultra-wealthy and corporations.

Don't you really mean the govt is now going to take less away?

EVERY Traditional Company in the country is doing more with less in all areas.

In the case of my particular occupation, my lap top has replaced a secretary and my share of the GL expense of the secretarial pool.

The group of clerks that used to be responsible for accumulating the data supplied by the handwritten records of the sales folks no longer exists. They have been replaced by the hand held tablets of the sales force that automatically accumulate when the end of day download occurs.

IF the USA restricted spending increases to the level of inflation over the last decade, there would be no deficit today. They don't. There is.

My employer is a family owned business.

The guy who runs the place loves his children.

He would prefer to barbeque and eat his his children rather than pay ANYONE a 10 million dollar bonus.

All that aside, though, how does me receiving a 10 million dollar bonus fit into this discussion?

If you had 10 million dollars in your checking account, you would have been able to buy that engagement ring without your checking account balance becoming low.

Thus, increasing revenues DOES change the definition of what it means to "overspend".

Well, if I had $10 million in my checking account, I would have bought a more expensive ring.

You probably don't realize it, but you just made my point for me.

When you have more income (revenue), you can spend more without depleting your bank account.

If I had Bill Gates' bank account and I wrote a check for $1.00, the account would be depleted by $1.00.

Not quite true - spending beyond what your income can sustain causes debt. Even then, all debt is not equal or bad. If I borrow to buy a new lawnmower (to add/sustain income) that is different than if I borrow to take a vacation cruise (to increase consumption).

IN either of your examples, spending causes debt.

When accumulating debt for essential business related equipment, the plan is that the equipment will produce an excess of revenue over expense.

Regardless of the wisdom of the purchase, though, the debt is incurred. If your business is to mow lawns, however, the expense is unavoidable. The only question is which lawnmower to buy.

Regarding the cruise, all work and no play makes ttwtt78640 a dull boy. Isn't all that lawn mowing supposed to give you a little pleasure?

I say, "Take the cruise if you get the chance and it makes you happy. Nobody else can take it for you."

Let's not be disingenuous by discounting the fact that the Democratic party, or at least its establishment echelons, is also bought and paid for.

Also the issues began way back with Buckley v Valeo in 76 which effectively eliminated any meaningful restrictions on money in politics, and truly began in earnest the monetization/descent of plutocracy of American federal governance; CU is just the latest major erosion which in turn stemmed from that disastrous ruling.
