This Tax Bill Is a Trillion-Dollar Blunder

LOL...

Bubbles are usually the product of irresponsibility, like the housing market crash, where democrats refused to make changes.

Pray tell, what changes could the Dems have possibly made which would have stopped AIG and Bear Stearns from going bankrupt? Especially since the Great Recession wasn't just here in American, but throughout Europe too? What legislation would have stopped that?

But I get it - it doesn't really matter to you what the cause really was - you just want to be able to blame the Dems for it.

Yes, we have irresponsibility to begin with, not paying our bills while giving tax break, when they so shouted about the deficit under Obama.

You're right, the Democrats did have a year and a half to pass something Bush would sign, but I say it was Bush's job to make Congress do something about it.

Perhaps the Democrats made the crisis just before the election?

I don't know who was guilty over there, do you?

Do you know that they "refused to make changes" or are you just wielding wild accusations an propaganda?

I don't care about the crisis anyway, it was all only bankers out of work and they paid us back with interest, so if they ever needed a hand again, I would surely lend it to them.

LOL...

Like a president can make congress do what ever he wants.

LOL...

LOL...

I don't have all the answers, but the housing market crash was avoidable.

Ah. You don't know how the Dems caused it, or how they could have prevented it, but because they controlled Congress beginning in January 2007, they could have prevented it, and so it's their fault.

Got it. Don't lay the blame where the buck stops - can't do that, because he's a Republican, and no matter how wrong the Republicans are, the Dems are always "wronger" and must get the blame. Mm-hmm....

Just so you know, a little more than two months after the Dems took control of Congress in 2007, Alan Greenspan was already warning of the possibility of a coming recession:

On March 2, 2007, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President William Poole said that the U.S. economy is forecast to grow 3 percent in 2007. A recession is when two consecutive quarters of negative gross domestic product growth occur.

Poole’s comment seemed to counter former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan’s widely reported statement that a recession was possible later in 2007. Greenspan's comment, made on February 26, apparently triggered a widespread stock market sell-off on February 27. Greenspan also mentioned that the U.S. budget deficit was a significant concern.

So...either the Dems took five weeks to screw everything up and Greenspan suddenly noticed it and started talking about it in that five weeks...

...or the factors that he saw that could lead to a recession were already occurring, sorta like watching the water receding suddenly from a beach before the tsunami hits. But I get it - no matter what, you must stay loyal to the tribe and blame the Dems.

My God man. This is old news, and I'm no going to hash it out again. Especially with you, who has a history of misinformed ideas.

The facts have been out for a long time. Learn or remain ignorant. I really don't care.

Ah. You blame the Dems for the Great Recession, then when I clearly show how no, we're not to blame, you immediately say "that's all old news and I don't want to talk about it again!" And then you toss in an insult for a bonus, and then declare victory without ever even attempting to prove your point (which you earlier admitted you couldn't do anyway). Dude. Good for you you're on the internet, because in a formal debate, the other side would chew you up and spit you out.

Here's a clue, guy - if you don't want to have to defend what you say concerning something ten years ago, then don't bring it up!

You did not show it was not to blame.

Notice ho the economy also turned when the democrats won congress in 2006? They promised to tax the evil rich more if elected, and the rich changed their investment habits.

Insult? perhaps. Ever think I am tied of your completely biased viewpoints?

Then he's not a very good President.

We're not biased, and what does being tired have to do with the discussion, good, our opponent is tiring!

The great recession was a direct result of failure to properly regulate the mortgage market.

You can blame Republicans, or you can blame Democrats.

or both. I blame both.

Why do we automatically blame politicians?

Oh wait... i know i know... the politicians didn't put the bankers in jail for instigating the greatest fraud in the history of the financial world.

But that still somewhat excuses the banks and their employees.
