Republicans Sought to Undercut an Unfavorable Analysis of the Tax Plan - The New York Times
Lengthy but well written article by the NYT explains how/why the GOP attacked Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT), the official scorekeeper of Congress that analyzes proposed bills and reports on how such proposed bills affect national economics and federal revenue's. The GOP also attacked the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Both nonpartisan research arms of Congress stated in their scoring of the GOP "tax-reform" measures that the proposed legislation does not pay for itself, but rather balloons the deficit.
