Right and Left Share Deficit Blame

Just happy talk to paper over the fact that our sailors don't get enough steaming time to be proficient and about half our aircraft can't fly.

[h=3]Sequestration | Congressional Budget Office[/h]https://www.cbo.gov/topics/budget/sequestration

Sequestration refers to automatic spending cuts that occur through the withdrawal of funding for certain (but not all) government programs. CBO provides ...

I just told you where to look for a statement from the government stating that the defense industry hasn't been hobbled by sequestration as you claimed it has. I'm not chasing your goalposts.

And I told you the government statement is common BS.

We have a Mexican stand off here. I gave you a gov source and you gave me a gov source.

Check the dates and the purpose. Yours was a Feb 2016 public announcement in support of the President's budget submission. Straight PR. Mine was later (Mar 2016) testimony about the effects of sequestration on that budget.

Mine was only PR and yours was "serious"? OK, whatever.

I should clarify. Every department and agency falls into line in support of the President's budget. Happens every year, no exceptions. It is an annual ritual. The link I provided was from testimony to Congress, under oath. There's a difference.

I just retired after 43 years as (at different times) a federal employee, contractor, vendor and consultant.

I don't care one damn bit about your Internet resume. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. All I know is I gave you a dot gov source disputing your claim.

No need to get angry. I explained why all government sources are not created equal.

As far as my resume goes, I'm happy to make you the same offer I've made to others. I'll PM you a link to my LinkedIn page. You can judge for yourself.

This Country wasted a decade, of Abundant Building Material, willing and able Human Resources, at the lowest interest rates and Labor Cost in Decades. All to prevent One Man from a Win.

So I say, congratulations on the Win ... and this Country Still Needs it's Infrastructure Fixed.

I watched on the History Channel yesterday, about Great Trains. Japan has had High Speed Trains since 1964 ... ALL MY LIFE. We have Amtrack

Amtrak has been around since 1970 and hasn't changed since.

Amtrack looses millions of dollars every year. Why are we doubling down on a loser?

The Smart PRIORITIZE Debt ...

If your house if falling apart around you, where would you prioritize your asset?

Buy more Guns to put in the House?

If the bad guys are coming down the street with weapons drawn and proclimations they want to burn down the house and kill be too............guns.

The TOP priority of the Federal Government is defense.............PERIOD. And it's a false choice between JUST infrastructure or defense.

Take the gift of Insurance Money ...

The solution is to move SS eligibility age out, and increase the employees contribution rate.

The first thing is get everyone back to working and paying into the system. We get full employment at average LFPR back again and that solves a LOT of the problem. Then the solution is at least partial privatization so people get more out of it in retained earnings and getting a better return on the monies in the trust funds by using broad based index funds.

The retirement ages have already been extended. I am 64 now, my retirement age when I first start working was 65, now it is 67.

It was hobbled in 2016, that continues according to you source. And the Obama administrations report to justify the continuation of that is not very convincing.

I specifically pointed out the second paragraph. You don't even have to flip a page. Nice try.

Maybe you should read it

"The FY 2017 budget of $582.7 billion complies with the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015, giving the department both funding stability and protection from the damage of sequestration in FY 2016 and FY 2017. Within the confines of this negotiated amount, the budget request reflects the priorities necessary for our force today and in the future to best serve and protect our nation in a rapidly changing security environment. The base budget of $523.9 billion includes an increase of $2.2 billion over the FY 2016 enacted budget of $521.7 billion. As specified in the budget agreement, DoD’s FY 2017 overseas contingency operations budget is $58.8 billion, nearly the same as the FY 2016 enacted level of $58.6 billion. The combined request represents a total increase of $2.4 billion, or less than one percent over FY 2016 enacted levels."

2016 was already hobbled this just continues it.
