I'm not really sure where to put this, but do you fear a cashless system? I've been cashless for many years. Digital Everything. I only carry around my cell phone and maybe $20 in cash for emergencies. Which I use maybe once every six months to go out on a whim or to get takeout at some place that doesn't take cards.

I had a debate today with a few friends and they all feared going cashless. They all said that the government can take your money any time they want, and that just because they haven't done it yet doesn't mean they can't because they will if they want to. They gave me two examples of Government shutting down banks and taxing people for taking out money of over $10,000 in cash a bunch of times. I thought their arguments and fears were ridiculous. I asked them, what should we do to solve this problem then? Not use banks? They didn't have a good answer. Except of course their gold standard (Of which they preach daily but don't actually practice.)

To me most of the conversation was just fear-mongering on their parts. "Aren't you worried about that?" They asked me. I said, "No. I don't ever need to take out more than $10,000 in cash, and I'm not worried about the banks coming and looking at my money which I barely have any of anyway."

I fear books in digital form only a lot more.

So an otherwords you're not actually moderately GOP, you're full on socialist because you believe the government should outlaw cash tender outright and justify that on the basis that you never use cash?

Oh man, the thought of losing a debit card scares the living daylights out of me, and I don't even dare to imagine getting a credit card!

I don't believe I have the balls to go cashless, in all honesty.

Where did he say anything about outlawing cash?

He clearly supports that via context, you notice he never said he didn't support it, and then proceeded to insult all the arguments he's heard against outlawing cash. that is basically saying "I would support outlawing cash" without actually saying those words.

We have been under a Fiat currency system for a long ass time, fort knox has been empty for a long time. The Fed Reserve was the end of a precious metal standard.

Huh. I guess that makes sense, although I didn't realize there was an actual debate about that.

I imagine you can guess what my position on that issue is.

What world do you live on where the govt isn't the one who makes the cash tender?

Yeah because that's what I said. I never advocated for a cashless society. Do I think it is going to happen regardless? Yes, but only because the majority of the people want it not because the government is forcing it. There is a difference.

I'm guessing you are one of those who fear a cashless system. Is there a reason why other than, "gov't bad."

The fact that every red cent would be taxed! No more under the table, nothing. No yard sales, no odd jobs, no nothing.

Wow you really need to get with the times, you can do all those things cashless now with your phone. Well probably not your phone, I bet you still have a flip phone.

Why wouldn't there be odd jobs? you can still send money to friends using a variety of apps. I can send you some money right now if you gave me a freaking email address and no government will stop me or you from doing the same.

I never said anything about outlawing. I see massive amounts of people adopting the technology though.

Studies have shown people that pay with cash spend less and are less frivolous with their money.

Paying by credit is designed for you to spend more money. It is psychological as well.

Are you familiar with Fiat currency and the Federal Reserve?

Yes and it has nothing to do with your ludicrous claim that odd jobs and garage sales wouldn't exist in a cashless system.
