NYT: Wall ‘Will Get Built,’ Trump Insists, as He Drops Funding Demand

No surprise. The 'deal maker' is the penultimate flimflam man.

75% of America to Trump: We don't want your feckin wall. How many times do we have to tell you?

Apparently when Trump said "Make America great again", he meant to leave it in the condition Obama left it in.

Who knew that building walls was so complicated? Nobody knew. It's amazing.

Another day in the life of president Magoo.

Breaking: Crazy old man announces complete surrender in wall shakedown, still insists he 'never settles'.

Ah, so another one of Trump's premium campaign pledges bites the dust -- along with 'getting Mexico to pay for it.'

It's too bad Barnum and Bailey Circus closed instead of booking Trump for the clown-car. The sheer buffoonery would be a box office hit.

And yet, it's the Dems who have buyer's remorse for voting for Clinton. Nobody expects Mexico to just write a check. Aid will be denied. Transfers will be taxed. Tariffs will be imposed. The Trump hate is bad with this one.

1. Where is the data that confirms that Clinton voters have buyer's remorse -- I don't? If you are quoting this, it basically said that 1-2% of Trump voters would have voted for Clinton and 1-2% of Clinton voters would have voted for Trump -- hardly Earth-shattering.
2. Based upon the aid that the U.S. gives to Mexico, it would take over 500 years to pay for that stupid wall.*
3. While you said, "[n]obody expects Mexico to just write a check," that's what Trump said would happen {"I will build a great wall -- and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me --and I'll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words."} Now, the wall wouldn't be 'inexpensive' and may not be built at all and Mexico isn't going to pay for it.

*'In 2013, the United States gave Mexico $51.5 million in foreign aid. Of that amount, $24.8 million, the largest segment, was designated for democracy, human rights and governance. The next largest amount, $10.9 million, was designated for the environment, and $8.4 million was designated for economic development.' -- Wiki

Est. cost of wall - $25 billion. $25 bil/$50 mil = 500

1.
fully 15 percent of Clinton supporters say they would ditch her.
2. So Mexico will pay for the wall. Awesome.
3. Nowhere did Trump say that Mexico would just write a check. He said Mexico would pay for the wall. When a person who's swearing revenge says "you're gonna pay for that", do you expect them to write a check?

I'm glad I could give you this rudimentary lesson in the English language. I'm always here to help.

No matter how desperately you need to have this about Clinton, it's simply not and never will be.

Sorry it makes you sad that the wall will never get built.

Congress to Trump: sit down, shut up and simply sign our latest borrow and spend package. ;)

Hey...the Wall WILL be built.

It just might not be as impressive as you might think:

I admire your ability to twist your verbiage into pretzels to defend Mr. Trump's obvious lying. Aint cognitive dissonance great?

lol. I made it very clear that I don't care if the wall ever gets built. I've said so numerous times. I'm pointing out that there are indeed ways to get Mexico to pay for it. No matter how desperately you try to hide your grief about HIllary losing, it will always come through in your bitter comments.

No, quite clearly it's of the utmost importance to you that it gets built.

Your Clinton Derangement Sydrome is on full display.

That's a big, beautiful wall.

I think it's so funny when you criticize Trump for what he wants to do and then you turn around and criticize him for moving on from Obamacare repeal/replace and compromising with Democrats to not shut down the government by taking the wall off the table.

Where you see inconsistency, I see vindication of what my side has been saying all along -- Trump failing to achieve all but 1 or 2 100 day plans is obvious proof of his lack of competence while also clearly showing that these goals were just publicity stunts that Trump really didn't care about or were unworkable. Reality has a way of doing that.

Trump didn't "move on from Obamacare repeal/replace," he was unable to get his own majority party to do what they had been talking about for seven years and Trump made a campaign promise -- on a bill that he backed. Trump told reporters, "It's an unbelievably complex subject. Nobody knew health care could be so complicated." Translation: This president didn't know what the rest of us knew, undoing Obamacare is impossible without throwing millions off of health care. Actually his ignorance has been pretty obvious all along to anyone who listened to his campaign rhetoric about Obamacare and compared it to reality.

Trump didn't 'compromise with Democrats to not shut down the government.' Trump simply caved. Democrats gave up nothing.

Just a biased liberal anti-Trump perspective. Hey, I get it, your side wants paybacks for what the Republicans did to Obama. At least you could admit that your points have no merit and that they are paybacks only.

I could admit those things but I'd be lying. My views are formed from viewpoint of what's best for the country. Trump wants to scuttle the ACA, which gave tens of millions health coverage. The last GOP version of 'reform' would have thrown 24 million off of insurance and eliminate coverage for preexisting conditions. I don't see how any citizen can view that as an improvement.

Trump wants a radical tax reduction policy that would benefit people such as himself at the expense of working class Americans. That, in my view, isn't what miners and factory workers voted for.

Trump and the GOP want to eliminate the Dodd/Frank financial protection law, that has resulted in recovering $9 billion back to consumers from financial companies. They want to do it because they are heavily lobbied by Wall St. who view the bill as taking money out of their profits -- ill-gotten profits, by-the-way. I don't see how that helps make America great.

The same with eviscerating environmental protections. I don't see how making the air and water dirtier and adding carcinogens to the environment makes America greater.

It surely appears this president is corruption challenged. As the New York Times said, Bob Murray, of Murray Energy is a serial violator of federal health and safety rules and responsible for 6 minors dying because of those violations, gave $300,000 to Trump’s inauguration and got a coal regulation policy changed.

Coal, oil, gas and chemical industries, technology and pharmaceutical companies contributed a big chunk of the record $107 million collected to pay for the inauguration, according to numbers released by the inaugural committee last week. That’s more than double the $53 million President Obama raised in 2009, for bigger festivities that drew many more attendees.
All got executive order changes that benefited their industries. I don't see how selling policy to the highest bidder is making America great or fulfilling the pledge to 'drain the swamp.'

These are just a few examples of why people such as myself oppose Trump. No, it's not "payback." It's good citizenship.
