The Master Dealmaker In Action

Do you even have a clue what is needed to pass single payer? A political uprising of great magnitude. Even greater than what the Republicans have done over the last six years. You guys thought electing Hillary was a shoe in and had zero clue that the political uprising of great magnitude was going to be Trump being elected to turn Washington upside down. You are fools buying into your own propaganda if you think if the election were redone tomorrow that Hillary would win this time. Buying into your own propaganda only furthers your head in the sand ideology. Just because liberals are loud does not mean they are growing in numbers. They are just the same people who have had trouble accepting the reality that their thoughts and ideas have been thoroughly rejected, right down to the governors and state legislatures.

MR...firstly, you need to attempt in stop talk down at people who you don't believe fits inside of a "Moderate Right" Conservative Suit" like their mentally ill 12 year olds. The sun doesn't rise and set around everything you say. That right and privilege belongs solely to your President Trump.

Your response to my comments is a way over the top drama queen reaction.

I was simply making a comment, which reflected a window of time when the creation of the ACA was underway and also a time when the Administration was simultaneously having discussions about what the possibilities might be to introduce the framework of a single payer healthcare system because the political climate along with the political construct of the Demcrats was more aligned to bring that discourse to the public. But the 26 Blue Dog Conservative Demcrats told the Administration they were already walking on eggshells with introducing the ACA. They were 100% needed to make the ACA happen.

Despite your doom and gloom analogy of the chaotic events that would have, will, or future changes creating a single payer system, maybe one day all Washington politicians will be fired for being corrupt and selling out their allegiance to insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies.

this was to be a starting point on changing ACA.

doing the all or nothing was stupid.

Republicans really aren't about improving anything. Your state has probably been hit the hardest by their ACA sabotage.

And then something happened. As The New York Times noted on December 9, 2015, “A little-noticed health care provision slipped into a giant spending law last year has tangled up the Obama administration, sent tremors through health insurance markets and rattled confidence in the durability of President Obama’s signature health law.”

Rubio and a number of other Republicans had succeeded in gutting the risk corridors. The result was that, just in 2015, end-of-fiscal-year risk corridor payments to insurance companies that were supposed to total around $2.9 billion were only reimbursed, according to Rubio himself quoted in the Times, to the tune of around $400 million. Rubio bragged that he’d “saved taxpayers $2.5 billion.”

And, indeed, he had. But the insurance companies were thrown into a crisis. And, with Republicans in Congress absolutely refusing to re-fund the risk corridors, that crisis would get worse as time went on, at least over a period of a few years.

I hope long enough for you to realize that much of the many messes our country is in is because our government isn't going stop ****ing us over till we get it through their wanna be rock star shister heads that they are Americans first and foremost. They owe 100% of their allegiance to Americans voters over any other interests, period.

Americans citizens also need to realize that they too are Americans first, not Demcrats, Republicans, liberals, or conservatives. The ideologically propaganda that's developed over that the last several decades is causing serious problems. Having differences of opinions is one thing, but to believe there is only one way to skin a cat - is complete bull****. No individual or group has all of the answers. Sharing of ideas and problem solving is a necessity.

We don't have a parliamentary government much to the dismay of extremists on both sides of the isle. Also the electorate especially needs to understand that if our nation is ever governed (actually "ruled" is the term) by a single ideology - our nation will be totally ****ed! How long will you have to live to realize that our Republic form of government is moving way off track. That's dangerous.

The Washington political tactic of obstructionism has to go now! ASAP! Nobody has to French kiss people who aren't members of their political party affiliation. But they need to work jointly to do the job that they took an oath to do. It's essential if our nation is to grow and prosper.

If our politicians go into an election for a major seat in our government - believing that any member of a different party is their moral enemy - they aren't the right person for the job.

There's plenty of totalitarian countries around and people who dig that type of country, don't let the door hit them in the ass on the way out.

Either we are in this together as Americans or we aren't. If we aren't then groups will begin to believe that are entitled to remedy their need to ensure our country is officially divided. Our nation will look like Syria on steroids if that happens.

How Republicans quietly sabotaged Obamacare long before Trump came into office - Salon.com

Salon? That's your source? It was Obama who crammed through Obamacare without a single Republican vote and you blame them for not enthusiastically supporting the law? Since the Democrats crammed it through without a single Republican vote, why didn't they pass legislation (like single payer) that didn't need fixing so badly? They had their chance and they blew it.

You just hit on why Americans elected Trump president in the first place. Americans are tired of the crap from both Democrats and Republicans and elected someone from the Nationalist Party instead. If that doesn't work out then we're right back to two lousy parties all over again.

Isn't this a dangerous point of view? Our strength is our ability to disagree and compromise, not march blindly to some imagined true American nationalist view. This is the path to the tyranny of the majority.

Salon is quoting the New York Times, who published the story. Apparently, you didn't bother to read anything, yet again.

It doesn't matter what the source is, as long as it's the truth. And the truth is there in the bill.

And Obamacare didn't need fixing. It was fine, until Rubio did his sabotage. READ SOMETHING FOR ONCE! That's the only cure for ignorance, and you need a giant dose.

I have long been sick and tired of our self-will-run-riot government. I understand our need to redress our grievances and let government know that if they can't understand their need to "stop sucking the Corp Tit" and undo all of the legislation that they created to enhance their power in order to rob us blind in order to perpetuate the lifestyle that they've become so accustomed to in Washington - there jobs in Washington ARE ****ING OVER!

I'm sick to death of watching these nut sacks continuously create drama after drama in order to distract America from our most important problems, which "doesn't include who is sucking who" - "or who is getting birth control from a place who does abortions". Those issues are far from our most important problems of the day. And god forbid that they ever fess up that they've ****ed up will work hard to fix their screw ups.

But I would never agree that Trump is America's Champion - the great fixer upper. He has some seriously unhealthy baggage that he is still lugging around because he thinks he can be CEO of The United States of Trump Inc. And simultaneously be the CEO of his private corporation. He's not even denying it.

Even thinking about Clinton being president...gives me nightmares! And we had the two worst groups of presidential candidates "from both parties"....EVER!

Tyranny of the majority? Sounds just like what the Democrats have done for the last eight years. When they had the power they crammed everything down the right's asses, from Obama's first two years (including Obamacare) to all the executive orders to thwart dealing with Republicans. Both Obama and Harry Reid were masterful at the tyranny of the majority. Remember the nuclear option? Yes, the Republicans were obstructionists but so to were the Democrats. Both parties said it was either their way or the highway. It's called gridlock and you have gridlock because neither party will compromise. Enter the 2016 election and Trump's Nationalist Party win.

New York Times? That's even worse than Salon. The trouble with the left is they think their truths are the real truths. Facts don't matter. They are always right and the other side is always wrong.

There is not nationalist party and there is no unified view of what is best for America or what it means to be a true American. This is a dangerous thing to even hope for because it can lead to true tyranny. Gridlock is preferable to that. Our nation is not in mortal peril.

I was for Kasich. Don't know what else to say other than that. I would have chosen several over Trump and would never vote for Hillary. But, I understand why Americans elected Trump president. I'm giving him a chance but I have my worries.

I too would have voted for Kasich, for what it's worth.

Right, because he wasn't on the list of sponsors. Do you believe that those few people are the ONLY ones who contributed?

From your own link: "Aside from the influence of the plethora of healthcare lobbyists, there are five key people who either authored parts of it or had strong influence on its contents."

Emphasis in red mine.

I know his hagiographers want to make him into something he's not, but he didn't write any of it.Or are you saying he's one of those healthcare lobbyists. LOL

Do you honestly believe that, even though it was his big push, that he had no influence or input whatsoever?

And you do understand that the mention of outside lobbyists... which aside from thoroughly trashing your point... was not necessarily exclusive and limited to just that? You're being willfully obtuse.

Trump definitely showed us inaction on Obamacare repeal,eh?

Does anyone have any idea what his next snooze inducer will be?

What I said was, he didn't write any of it. Way outside his competency level.

I think you're the only person who has ever accused Trump of causing them to fall asleep. Most of the left stays awake at night thinking about more ways to be loud mouths to Trump's anything.

Because they couldn't:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/physic...amacare-into-law-four-years-ago/#78a0e62a526b

They could only pass meaningful Health care if they had a supermajority because the ****ing asshole Republicans opposed any and all Obama/Dem healthcare legislation.
But Dems DID pass a health care bill in the House.
Then through a few twists of fate, they gained, lost, and then gained again, the senate supermajority. So they passed a different health care senate bill (Obama care).
They figured they had plenty of time to reconciled he two bills, because after Ted K died, the special election was assumed to go for the 38th straight year to another Dem.
It didn't.
Scott Brown pulls a huge upset, and they lose the supermajority.

So now they have a choice, forfeit all the work and progress on their health care legislation, knowing Rs will show them their ass and obstruct it entirely.
Or, they have to pass the new Senate bill in the House, because they CAN get the house votes.
So they made the choice to pass it in the house, and it did.

Not so black and white.
