Defund "Meals on Wheels"? Fake News!

Your point was that interest is "growing" which it isn't.

The overall point is that items such as Meals on Wheels is not a drain on the federal budget and to target something like that which does much for poor seniors -- while advocating tax-cuts on the rich, is morally depraved.

Nope, my point was that the national debt is growing because congress critters of both parties refuse to tax enough to cover their desired spending.

Your argument is similar to since one's spending for getting their fingernails a fancy paint job is trivial compared to their spending on an upgraded cable TV channel package that having fancy looking fingernails is not an expense worth cutting.

All that I ask is that the federal government not spend more (as % of GDP) than it dare ask for in taxation. Budgeting is about setting spending priorities such that they do not exceed projected income.

I have no idea why you assume that I support tax cuts for the rich or anyone else. I think even Trump realizes that he cannot cut taxes without cutting spending as well.

While I agree that Congress should tax enough to cover expenses, I don't think we have a spending problem. For the last eight years spending was under control.

Although, there is nothing wrong with having a deficit that is less than the economic growth rate. The effect will be making the deficit irrelevant over time.

Spending was not under control. If it was, we would not be deficit spending. For there to be progress towards control, deficit spending plus interest on the debt would decrease year after year with a trend to paying down the debt. Not increasing it.

I was wrong. Just looked at the debt numbers. Table 7.1 from the White House Historical Tables actually does show a trend towards control. However, that is only because republicans have controlled the house since the 112th congress.

The debt increased in the 107th congress, but we were funding the Iraqi war. By the 109th congress, we were on a nice path towards balancing the budget. Then democrats took the house in the 110th congress, and controlled it in the 111th also. The debt skyrocketed!

You mean that same God that many on the left refuse to acknowledge? The same God who thinks murder is wrong, even the murder of innocent fetuses? That God?

So now you are speaking for God? That is blasphemy and a much worse sin than abortion, something that was not even forbidden by the church until relatively recently. You should be praying for Trump ...he needs it.

Everyone should be praying for whomever is president.
