We're talking tens of thousands of jobs, maybe even hundreds of thousands.
Again, who says those people would lose their jobs? Just as much administration would be required for Medicare to take on all the formerly enrollees. The only ones out of a job would be the top executives (who will get golden parachutes anyway), and the PR and marketing teams (who can easily find work in other industries...advertising is universal). There's no reason to believe that going to a single-payer system will cause hundreds of thousands of people to lose their jobs. Again, if you had any idea what an insurance company actually does, you wouldn't make this rather flimsy argument.
