Solving Automation Under-Employment and Unemployment

Thread: Going to Mars is the dumbest idea any human has ever had

Even a very, very ****ed up Earth, whether done by us or by nature or both, is still vastly more habitable to humans than Mars. Nuclear winter, supervolcanic winter, ice ages, meteor/comet impacts, really virtually anything you can possibly imagine that could happen to Earth, it's still vastly better for long-term survival than Mars ever will be. Mars is already, and is at all times, post-apocalyptically inhospitable.

to many possible survivors fighting over to little

or we could enter a dark age as well

at least your entire population and industry would be bult around those inhospitable conditions

There are probably 500K people in the U.S. that could better spend that kind of money than NASA could on Mars. I mean, WTF for? We could create entirely new industries and such, that have far more...practical application. Why not just pump that money into green energy? Sustainable natural food? Environmental cleanup? Improved wildlife/fisheries such that a lot more fishing/hunting (recreational) can be freed up, and less commercial destruction is needed? I mean, and that's ignoring the typical roads, bridges, airports stuff. How about improving our medical IT infrastructure to be...modern, instead of the anarchic joke it is? I mean, we will all get sick and die, why not attack that problem and reduce healthcare cost at the same time? Mars? What a joke. Unless its related to national security, then I'm listening.
