Fascist movements took place all around the world: fascism also had adherents in South Africa, Japan, the United States, and the Middle East. There were seemingly endless movements driven by fascist beliefs in Portugal and Spain, but in the early 1970s, the movements were less frequent. Eventually, they stopped altogether. South Africa was also the home of three fascist movements until the 1980s, at which point the emphasis on fascism was lower than ever before.

Even democratic nations have traces of fascist movements within their histories. These nations have had fascist sympathizers, parties, and support groups with some significant influence in their respective countries. These nations include:

Austria
Belgium
Canada
Ireland
Lebanon
Mexico
The Netherlands
Sweden
The United Kingdom
The United States

The United States might come as a shock to some. In the late 1930s, pro-German organizations showed support for fascism and one group, the Silver Legion of America, managed to run a candidates for President on a third-party ticket. After Nazi Germany declared war on the United States in 1941, the group was outlawed.

Fascist Leaders and Dictators
Each of the countries that have fascist movements written in their history were controlled by dictators. Even though many fascist leaders had help and support along the way, they were the ones who ultimately made the decisions.

The previous leaders of fascist nations were:

Adolf Hitler of Germany
Benito Mussolini of Italy
Fumimaro Konoye of Japan
Engelbert Dollfuß of Austria
Getúlio Vargas of Brazil
Ante Pavelić of Croatia
Pehr Evind Svinhufvud of Finland
Philippe Pétain of France
Ioannis Mextaxas of Greece
Ferenc Szálasi of Hungary
Vidkun Quisling of Norway
António de Oliveira Salazar of Portugal
Ion Antonescu of Romania
Jozef Tisoof Slovakia
Francisco Frano of Spain
