This call to arms has been used twice before. But this version has important lesson to teach us.
If you notice each segment of the snake divided has a different colonies attached to it. Many thank this cartoon was used mostly to gain popular support for the army or minute man. But it had much deeper meanings back. Most of the colonies didn’t interact with the other colonies much and most colonists didn’t travel outside their states much. This cartoon had more to do with uniting the colonies together then promoting military enlistment. Great Britain and king George III where smart. They had for the most part been able to keep the colonies separated and divided. This made it hard for the colonies to raise up against them. Did you know in the Articles of Confederation there was a clause allowing Canada to join These United States anytime it wanted. This laws where still in effect 4 years after the war ended. If you thank about that. It means that Canada a colony of Britain was so divided from the other colonies that they choose to stay under British rule instead of uniting with the other colonies. Even after the war ended. The United States is more divided today than it ever had been before. The only other time is was even close to this divided was the civil war. If we don’t start building bridges instead of burning them down it will be to late and there will be nothing we can.
