Trump blurts out his true motivation on mail ballots

Reread my first sentence, Cardinal.

No, I'm not re-reading your worthless concern trolling and your empty statements that never say anything. Do you support electoral cheating or not?

The last time I really shared my personal opinions on Trump was when he secured the nomination in 2016. Since then I don't think I've commented on his policies, only on the respect that any holder of the Office of the Presidency is due.

What in Sam hell... Are you on about?

So, what the **** are you doing here if not to debate the most powerful elected official in the worlds policies and their affects?

And that’s nice you want to respect someone who deserves no respect, respect is earned no matter what Office they occupy and I say this, if you can’t stand up, be counted and speak against transparent, naked, open cheating, than you deserve no respect either.

I find sad the assumption of so many that if you don't participate in daily "two-minute hate" threads that mock Trump, you have failed an ideological purity test. I've even been told that I voted for Trump when I have never posted about for whom I voted. Of course, I've now been called a woman-hating racist because I don't like Kamala Harris (and I emphatically do not), so there you go.

Oh please Nota, don’t pass up an opportunity where transparent, open, daylight cheating in an election is taking place, to paint yourself as a victim of something.

I think that the constant vilification on this board of those who are both progressive and conservative is counterproductive and believe that a little respect toward oppositional viewpoints would go a long way in healing divisions. When you stereotype all progressives or conservatives or use ugly terms to describe them, you're being unfair and ugly yourself.

So still, you can’t and you won’t see the naked cheating occurring, literally one of THE MOST concerning things a politician in power could possibly attempt to do and instead side track to

“Oh WOH is all this ugliness!

Openly cheating in an election is simply a “oppositional viewpoint”.

Why can’t anyone respect differences”.

Trump gives new meaning to that quote. He is the singular most dangerous man ever to live. He has everyone in the "Grand Old Party" so afraid destroy very few in it will stand up to them. His preoccupation with getting reelected kept him from a proper response to COVID and destroyed our economic and social way of life. He has destroyed respect for our National institutions, Law and Order, the Inteligence Community and OUR Free Press. In the world Community he's destroyed respect for the office he holds and OUR Nation he governs. And now this one evil man with the support of so many that fear him or worship him is destroying our political way of life.

He doesn't openly and without remorse, using his office to assure his reelection in every way he can and daring anyone to stop him. And uses that same office to be sure that anyone that opposes him must play strictly by his rules.

It's heart breaking that we've come to this. :(

Donald John Trump must be defeated in Novemeber if we are to have any sembalence of the Nation our young men and women have defended for so long.

I find it sad that intelligent people like you jump in to protect this character in the white house regardless of his incompetence and dangerous actions (or lack of actions). Trump is an ignorant bully, that is not Trump hate, that is Trump description. He has violated his oath, and serves himself only in whatever corrupt way he can, instead of doing what is best for our country.

I also find it sad that any of us have the need to point out Trumps faults, failures, slanderous attacks on others, lies and disinformation, etc. on a daily basis. There is great division and hate in this country due to a president who is still feeding red meat to his base and inciting conflict between races, religions, sexes and political parties.

You don't have to say you're a Trump supporter, it's obvious to everyone. That's your business though, you're not alone in your disregard for the safety and success of our country and its people. I have no desire to argue with you or convince you of anything, I'm not a bully and those who defend Trump can only see what he wants them to see. Enjoy the rest of your day.

It is one thing to remain impartial and objective. It is another thing entirely to ignore significant issues that affect everyone in our country. I do not understand sitting on the sidelines when our election system is at risk, whichever side of the issue a person happens to fall on.

Refusing to speak out against open electoral cheating is "failing an ideological purity test." Extraordinary.

Well said, I couldn't agree more.

There is really no excuse for this kind of talk. There is no excuse for the actions Trump has been taking, such as refusing to fund the USPS back in April. There is no excuse for the crap the Postmaster General is doing such as shutting down sorting machines. It's a sad day in American history when a U.S. President essentially comes out against the act of voting. It's important to recognize how serious and how terrible this is. Trump is going to try and steal the election. That's the bottom line.

So, in other words, cheating-just like he does at golf. The man is a crook.

Bold: When someone says they like Jeff Sessions (a proven racist) and "emphatically do not" like Harris (a black person), what the **** do you expect people to think?

Absolutely. If they (Trump-GOP) win, this is how the will do it.

Trump's crony running the Post Office is now removing sorting machines, 'to reduce costs'.

This is how democracies die. Of course it can only succeed if you can control the public. To do that, you need to send in the military to your cities, to act upon the citizens. It looks like they've got that covered, too.

'Reducing costs' is the most absurd lie you can imagine. The machines were introduced in the first place to reduce the cost of employing more sorting staff!

There's going to be a lot of cheating and voter suppression this time around. Maybe even more than usual.

Wouldn't creating havoc for mail-in ballots actually hurt both sides?

Wow. Within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is straight-up electoral sabotage.

On the one hand, yes it is and an outrage, on the other, it's their standard operating procedure. It shouldn't be treated as a shock - Republicans will do "straight-up electoral sabotage" all day every day.

Trump isn't doing anything. All he did was state the obvious. No money=No change.

He’s had the post office eliminate overtime and remove sorting machines to deliberately tank the USPS’ capacity. Defend that.

Wow, you sure do write a lot to say nothing. In fact, you go out of your way to say nothing, which is your way of supporting Trump and his crimes.

Reading this drivel makes me embarrassed to be an American.

I will and with a clear conscience. I can't control the unnuanced viewpoints of others. Never mind your silly claim that I disregard the safety and success of the United States. Here is a hint: If you wish to persuade others, don't attack them and stoop to outrageous, indefensible hyperbole.

There is a difference between "sitting on the sidelines" and ignoring significant issues and in trying to be fair and to see the other fellow's point of view.

I would prefer some compromise. If it were possible, I would like to see debates moved up a month and voting moved up a month. Get everything in place that would be necessary to follow the same voting guidelines we have in Colorado for other states. Our mail-in system is devoid of fraud. The extra month to tally votes would allow them to be more diligent about detecting any fraud while still upholding the normal election timeline.

More than likely, it is too late to start such a plan, especially with all the delays we have had in providing the funding necessary for that plan. I suspect to move up voting on the scale would have required the changes be put into action 2-3 weeks ago. I am not looking forward to the mess September-November voting is turning into.

I am very nervous about my own ability to vote in the election if mail is not running, but I have started looking into what my options are. My wife and I would have to pick up our ballots at a voter service and polling center and then drop it off in one of the ballot drop boxes near our home. I strongly encourage people in other mail-in voting states to learn how to get their ballots to vote if the USPS is unable to deliver.

I'm very concerned about my own ability to vote, and as I've referenced in another thread, I am terribly concerned about the reliability of the Post Office. The charitable organization in which I'm involved helps people to pay their rent and utilities, and it took six weeks for a local check to be delivered to the utilities company (because despite having a very large Post Office with multiple and efficient branches, the USPS decided that all our mail should be first delivered to a very large city 100 miles away and then sent back). The day last week that someone showed up at the company with a new check was the day it was finally delivered. We can't afford to have glitches like this when voting by mail.

The all time percentages for mail-in ballots not delivered, not getting to their destination in time, fraudulently delivered is 0.0025%.

That is 5,000 votes on 200M votes. Way less than Trump's winning margin across the three battleground states in 2016. Anecdotes don't beat actual numbers.

I kind of divide time now into B.C. (Before Covid) and, someday soon, I hope, A.D. (After Disease). From the Bay Area's NBC affiliate:

A spokesperson for the U.S. Postal Service confirms there was not enough staff last week to man all of Berkeley's post offices, forcing some to close.

On Monday, all offices were back to normal. But for now there are concerns that COVID-19 infections among postal workers and a new rule by the postmaster general is slowing down mail delivery that could have dire consequences in November.
