This era is like bait. Some bad stuff happened and all the liars that were lying about being for small government or being pro life or being for the Constitution or against our National Debt just swallowed that bait in one gulp, completely changed their tune and showed us all what we already knew about them. Liars and fakes.


They're gonna try this garbage game again when Trump is gone. Don't let them. They're just fakes and liars to get votes and push their (mainly social) agenda.

The small government fiscal conservative have gone the way of the whooping crane. There may be a few around still, but they're well on the way to extinction.

Those 'small government' conservatives gave America the Patriot Act and Department of Homeland Security. They like the way certain words sound when it's talkin' time but when it's walkin' time they love a big, strong Daddy state, the stronger the better, more laws and more powerful police.
If anyone ever said to you, "What are you afraid of if you have nothing to hide?" you were talking to a conservative.
 
I suggest not only pointing out the hypocrisy of 'constitutionalists', 'fiscal conservatives', and 'small government' claimers, but also pointing out that they even say they want, if they weren't hypocritical, is wrong. Misleading euphamisms and propaganda.

'Small government' means 'the people are weak, unable to keep the rich from taking all the money and power'. 'Fiscal conservatives' means the same, no spending *on the people*, all the money has to go to the rich, and stay with them. What they WANT is terrible; and they are hypocritical, also. What we do need is simple - anti-plutocracy. Progressive policies.

and to be honest, it doesn't really matter what those terms actually mean. all that matters is how they're marketed (to dumb people who can't think 5 steps ahead).

the bumper stickers really do work. they're simple, easy to digest and they've even packaged so that the voter doesn't even have to think.

i'm hoping that younger people will be more savvy regarding (false) messaging. they've at least been bombarded by it their entire lives. older folks grew up fishing and watching "The Rifleman".

Yes, that's what "retail politics" is. The real policy might be to have sex with your daughter, but the slogan for it will be "increase quality family time".

Opinion manipulation, advertising, propaganda, is a powerful science. Many people don't stand a *chance*, they have strings that are pulled that they have no idea about. It's an important way our democracy is terribly corrupted, big money buying the opinions it wants people to have.

i agree that a lot of people don't have a chance. i watch my own extended family (people who i thought were decently smart as i grew up) just fall for con after con after con. those people are just wired differently. they either don't have the ability to pick out a con or don't want to (since they've been so conditioned by the fearful messages).

Don't entirely blame the victim. The con jobs are effective, created scientifically to bypass the rational, as I said to push buttons, focus group tested, etc. Our democracy faces a real threat from it, since it relies on 'rational citizens', yet big money advertising is effective at changing opinions. We see it even happen to Democrats also - a ballot measure has 80% support, then a big money ad campaign makes it fail.

i'm not only blaming the victims. hell, i talk all the time about Limbaugh and Hannity and how great they are at packaging the lies and selling them. it's really brilliant (if it wasn't so dishonest and didn't hurt our country so much).

There still is a national debt clock, but I'm not sure if Hannity has anything to do with it or will until there is another Democrat in the White House;
