Nobody wants people hurt like that, but it's about what he can legally do. It's the same principle as giving up rights for security.

if you're a fiscal conservative (which you're not) you would tell people to be responsible for themselves (and that includes emergencies) so they don't have to rely on FEDERAL government WELFARE.

if you're a constitutionalist (which you're not) you would say that it's Congress' job and not the president's.

I don't think it would be a very smart move for Democrats to challenge giving desperate people money right now.


If they want to stop the additional unemployment payments along with ending the moratorium on foreclosures and student loan payments until it goes thru them, they may pay a pretty big political price this November.

The same friggen place it comes every damn time they pass one of these stimulus bills. Anyone paying taxes. But people are hurting. Before this virus our unemployment rates were historically at record lows. Right now there are still 10.2% not back to work. Those who are the poorest among us who want to work are often not allowed to return because of the state they live in. Some have totally lost their businesses because of the shutdown. They need help. They don't need a disfunctional Congress playing politics at their expense. Trump stepped in and did the right thing. If the left wants to take him to court or the Republicans want to belly ache about it too......let them. He did what he could for those in need. Pelosi and the Democrat House passed a bill that was outrageous based on partisan wish lists that had nothing to do with those who are hurting. Pelosi wanted to play hardball to get crap passed that had nothing to do with COVID. They did the very same thing the times before. Well this time she got hit with that hardball right between the eyes.
