At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence



Why are you going apeshxit crazy at people not wearing masks, when there is n high quality evidence for their effectiveness in a community setting?


Yes, it’s true that WHO recommends them in some contexts. And I get thst people are concerned, I get when you likewise recommend them as a “just in case” measure.

What I don’t get is irrational passionate belief that non mask wearers are killing people, when the leading experts are saying there is no high quality evidence of this.

Yes,there exists some evidence for masks effectiveness, it might work to a degree to help just a little bit. But again, say it with me, there is no high quality evidence, we don’t know yet.


His isn’t worth, by any stretch, demonizing your fellow human beings over. And folks. There are lots of things worth demonizing people over. Let’s stick with those.

Did you miss the word 'healthy' in that quote? See, what wearing masks is intended to do is stop you from spreading the virus if you have it. Of course masks don't do squat when healthy people wear them. It's not intended to prevent you from getting the virus, it's intended to prevent vapour from your speech or breathing from carrying the virus into the air.

Why does this have to be explained over and over?

Wear a mask, Karen. Do you part to not spread anything in your community. It's not a 100% guarantee, but it's shown to help dampen community spread.
