That's because if you look into it, it's easy to see that 'Truther is just pushing some anti-truth narrative to be upset about mask mandates.

The WHO recommends EVERYONE wear a mask in public along with social distancing and such. It may not help healthy people, but one of the largest spread contributors comes from asymptomatic people. Meaning that they are sick but show no symptoms. So in the end, unless you're being tested on the reg, you don't actually know if you have it or not.

A mask by itself isn't a cure, but it's part of a comprehensive strategy to help reduce the rate of spread of Covid. So even if there's no "high quality data" that the masks in and of themselves help healthy people, there is evidence that as part of a larger tactic, the public in general wearing masks can help reduce the spread of Covid.

So in essence, Truther is being intellectually dishonest by trying to take a snippet of what the WHO said and make it seem like the opposite of what the WHO suggests is true.

Everyone should wear a mask in public, if more people do it, you can help to reduce the overall rate of spread of Covid.

The World Health Organization on Friday updated its guidance on the use of masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic, making several changes and additions. Most notably, the agency is now recommending that governments encourage healthy members of the general public to wear masks in specific situations as part of comprehensive prevention efforts.

The new guidance puts the agency more in line with many countries worldwide that have already recommended masking the public, including the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which made the recommendation in early April.

This, BTW, was back in June when they had said it. And since then we have seen data come in that shows the affects of wearing masks in public.

Only leftist nazis use stop lights. They want to create a culture of fear so they can control us. It's my decision whether or not to use stop lights, the government has no business forcing me to do it. It's unconstitutional. Other people can choose to protect themselves. If stoplights work, why are they worried about what I do?

The information you provide in your quote is two months old. The WHO changed their stance within the past month after scientific studies revealed cloth masks have helped worldwide to supplement social distancing and good hygiene. You either keep up with the science, or you get left behind.

The is a novel virus, meaning it has never been studied before. As such, science will continue to determine better ways to mitigate its transmission, treat people who contract it, and eventually vaccinate against it. You show an inability to realize what "novel virus" means with your posts.

One caveat I personally have is there should be national minimum standards for these kinds of masks, but even a terrible mask is better than no mask.

Not for the general public in community settings, no. At least not according to the world health organization.
