Progressive Cori Bush defeats 20 year moderate incumbent Lacy Clay.

Lacy Clay defeated by progressive primary challenger Cori Bush, CNN projects

Cori Bush, a progressive activist and veteran of the racial justice protest movement, defeated 20-year incumbent Missouri Rep. William Lacy Clay in a Democratic primary on Tuesday, a stunning victory for the party's insurgent left.

The US House seat, based in St. Louis, has been held by Clay and his father, former Rep. William Clay Sr., one of the founders of the Congressional Black Caucus, since 1969. Bush, who challenged Clay in 2018 and lost, was the first candidate launched by Justice Democrats, the progressive group dedicated to toppling moderate Democratic congressional incumbents.

So far this primary election season...

Cori Bush > William Lacy Clay
Jamaal Bowman > Eliot Engel
Marie Newman defeats uber conservadem Dan Lipinski

The curse of Trump.

Notice no republicans are calling Trump to get his endorsement.

Do you think the addition of more progressives to the democrat party, makes them more, or less attractive to mainstream America?

More. The policies they support are wildly popular.

Poll: 67 percent support providing Medicare for every American | TheHill

Poll: The Green New Deal is as popular as legalizing weed | Grist

A whopping 86 percent of Democrats and 64 percent of Independents are in favor of the plan. No surprise here, but only 26 percent of Republicans are enthusiastic about the Green New Deal at the moment.

Congrats! This is what the country needs. It's an incredibly hard road for progressives to overcome the corporatist ownership of elections, but the one thing people have is the vote.

Interesting.

You know I'm a moderate so progressivism is going to be something I need to work on understanding better.

"...mainstream" America?

You mean "white" America, don't you?

Of course, you do.

Next time, just say it. No need to be coy about it when everyone understand exactly where you're coming from.

That said, polling clearly suggests that most Americans DO support the more progressive agenda, if not always the Democratic (not "democrat") Party, of newcomers like Cori Bush.

Including most white Americans.

I was not aware that the middle of the political spectrum, had a pigment attached.
Are you stereotyping people who are not white, by saying they all speak with one voice, when it comes to how they like their Government run?

To hear the white wingers tell it, "the squad" has turned off American voters, will be primaried out easily, but well, um, oops? :lamo

From my perspective for those in office, there are republicans which are all off the charts trump nutters now, then there are the centrist moderate dems whose existence is seems to be not about policies but instead the notoin that "We aren't republicans therefore we will hurt you much less than the GOP"... and then there are the progressives who actually run on policies they want to implement.

We've had some good victories in 2018 and this year so far but we will most likely lose a good incumbent progressive unfortunately with Ed Markey whose probably going to lose to young Kennedy in Mass who is trying to fast-track his career more.

Of you weren't. You just assumed it. It's a subconscious thing for someone like you.

Either that, or you're just really clueless if you honestly believe that "mainstream America" is "turned off" by progressives, when by EVERY objective measure, a safe majority of American are in agreement with most mainstream progressive issues.

You seem to believe that simply because right wing Americans (like you) are "turned off" by progressives, etc....that "mainstream" America is. That's simply not accurate. Your mistake is your assumption that YOU are "mainstream". You are a rightwinger, by almost any measure.

Are you stereotyping people who are not white, by saying they all speak with one voice, when it comes to how they like their Government run?

Hardly. You're projecting.

It's YOU who is stereotyping by assuming that "mainstream" America thinks like you. Clearly, the people who share your views of "progressives" are overwhelming from the "suburban/rural, white, conservative, male" demographic of the electorate. Those are the people who fear and loathe those they consider to be "progressive".

Someone like ME! again with the stereotyping, I am a fiscal conservative, not a social conservative.
My overall point is that if you believe it will encourage independents to vote democrat, by running a progressive candidate,
then I am happy with your belief!

Case and point about centrist dems who lead this party...

The DNC Platform Committee rejected the Medicare for All amendment introduced by longtime single-payer advocate Michael Lighty by a vote of 36-125 during a virtual meeting Monday. The committee also voted down separate attempts to include support for expanding Medicare to children, dropping the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 55, and legalizing marijuana.

link...

Which begs the question, when dem party gets the power, what exactly will the DNC actually be fighting for? The answer seems to be, to stir very little waves so as to not disrupt the corporate flow of dollars to the campaign coffers.

DNC, we stand whole heartidly against the GOP but we don't stand for anything in particular.
