I support Unemployment Insurance, because stuff happens to people, and they may need help for a period during a tough time such as a lay off, and government by the people should support that, but fortunately I've never had to collect it.. By the way, I do not support free college other than what may already be offered limitedly. Though student debt is out of control.

No matter how you slice and dice it, paying specifically for Medicare, SSI and even unemployment is not welfare!

YOU do NOT get unemployment if you didn't work.

We opened up and people refused to wear masks. When we started opening back up, people should have been more diligent in wearing masks and practicing proper social distancing.

Norway never had the numbers, they closed down quickly, social distanced, and were able to get ahead of the situation from the start. Sweden has among the higher numbers of infection rates and deaths per millions in Europe.

If we had Norway's numbers, we wouldn't need masks either. But we wasted all our time pretending this was some form of hoax and then getting up in arms over shutdown orders and never organizing a coherent federal response. Germany shut down and wore masks, and has some of the best numbers in terms of infection rates and deaths per capita of the European response. Go figure, huh?

May I see your evidence that every single person in Norway donned masks immediately, stayed home, closed up shop and that cured it in their country and that allows them to now walk around mask free. Thank you.

It's not earned, it is a benefit of the government like welfare.

If I give my money to the government to hold for me for unemployment and they give it back to me some day, how is that socialism? Is insuring your car also socialism?

Nobody is doing that. As I said employers pay a tax that goes into a fund called unemployment insurance. Insuring my car sometimes seems like a scam, but it is a communal/socialist concept, everyone paying into something that some may need at a bad time, and some may never need.
