I have no idea what to say other than that when I watched the interview this morning, I thought it was a spoof.

1. The COVID charts he shows seem surreal

2. His responses to the thousands of Americans dying is...callously lacking empathy, at best. Though, downright psychotic might fit here more aptly.

3. The John Lewis stuff is creepy: Narcissistic responses and weird paranoia as well.

Last week Trump was criticized for saying he wished Ghislaine Maxwell well after she had been arrested on charges of child sex trafficking.

When challenged on that, Trump doubled down and fueled conspiracy theories suggesting that her former boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein didn’t commit suicide in jail last year.

“Her friend or boyfriend was either killed or committed suicide in jail. She’s now in jail. Yeah I wish her well, I’d wish you well, I’d wish a lot of people well. Good luck, let them prove somebody was guilty.”

Trump continued: “Her boyfriend died in jail and people are still trying to figure it out, was it a suicide, was he killed, and I do wish her well. I’m not looking for anything bad for her.”

Across similar threads the defense of this interview is tepid at best. They still think Trump crushed the Wallace interview. Trump acted like his chart were all new to him. As far as his advisors, they have been reported to buy DC cable airtime to placate Trump.

Yeah, I saw the whole thing this AM and twice Trump questioned the manner of Epstein’s death.

Not sure if I concur with the OP as to this being the most bizarre incident, there have been so many and many more to follow, I’m afraid.

He questions it yet has the power to actually put a thorough investigation into the matter but doesn't and we all know why.

Remember. Sarah Cooper doesn't change a single word, and is all in Trump's own voice, in her Tik-Toks of Trump. Though Trump's lies and actions are only getting worse, they have all been obvious while he was running for nomination and before.

Recently Trump has more often been telling two lies or more in the same sentence than ever before. You can't keep up with the guy. There's where Trump has something in common with Einstein. They've not yet made what can measure the frequency X severity of His lies, just like unable to prove Einstein theories for lack of yet developed measurement technology.

I couldn't watch the entire thing. It was embarrassing. The interviewer kept on asking Trump about his sources. What studies is Trump talking about? Who are these people? Why is death proportional to the population of the people the wrong stat? Why is that so wrong to send all registered voters an application? Trump is apparently unaware that mail-in-voting has been happening since the Civil War.

At this point, I am leaning toward voting for Biden or writing in Anthony Fauci's name for President.

The biggest takeaway from the Axios interview for me was this: When Trump spews some total BS, rather than simply looked surprised and move on the next question on the list, the interviewer simply has to say "Please explain your answer." This was brilliant. It took Trump totally by surprise. No reporter has said "please explain" to Trump. He then proceeds to put both feet in his mouth and he hashes out some more nonsensical BS.

This could be a brilliant strategy for Biden during the debates. I can hear it now:

"Mr. Biden, your response?"

"Response? No, I don't need to respond to that horse hockey. In fact I invite the president to expand on his answer. Please tell us more about how your response to the pandemic has been awesome. I'll yield my time."

He's just DREAMY isn't he? How can y'all just not gush over such a manly man in charge? He makes me feel justfied in my fear and hatred of nasty dark folks! His whiteness that shows around the edges of the orange war paint make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I mean how did we ever survive a brown president?
