Leftist insurgents burn Bibles in Portland

Did you even read the article? The ONLY reference to "Leftist" was a quote by some guy on twitter; "“Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland,” claimed Ian Miles Cheong on Twitter Saturday.

btw: "Ian Miles Cheong is the Editor in Chief at Gameranx and self-described turbo-feminist, known for his Reddit scandal in 2012 as well as uncovered IRC logs in which he claimed "hitler is my ****ing idol"."

Ian Miles Cheong - GamerGate Wiki

may or may not be the same guy.

Wait a minute..You don't mean THE Ian Miles Cheong? Damn. That blows away any argument I happened to have... :)

And at the very end of the article it says....

"...The fire was later put out by members of Moms United for Black Lives Matter, who doused the flames with bottles of water and stomped on the embers, according to KOIN 6, a local CBS affiliate television station in Portland....

Moms...gotta luv em.

Thread DOA...….:lamo

"You also had people that were very fine people, on both sides."

I know! How much more definitive can it get?

"You also had people that were very fine people, on both sides."

Trump's exact words.

"You had people, and I'm not talking about the neo-nazis and the white nationalists, they should be condemned totally. But you had other people in that group other than neo-nazis and white nationalists okay. And there press had treated them absolutely unfairly."

so yes he did say there were good people on both sides but to the exclusion of white nationalists and neo-nazis.

Here's the video of him saying that. Skip to the timestamp of 1:50 and you'll hear it

That was too easy, now apply that to the OP’s usual generalization of “leftists.”

There are good people on the left. that doesn't mean that these people actually burning books aren't on the left.

I think the issue is that because it's left, and the left is fracturing between your average leftist person and the crazy Nazi left that's burning books and rioting. the news media the politicians in general seem to want to say that that is the left.

I've actually heard people say that antifa is not a thing. Why would they want to say that? It's like they're trying to cover up there's a schism. I think if the average left-wing Democrat voter denounced this they would probably get a lot more people on their side.

The right up until very recently had a purity spiraling problem.

The evangelocons want to turn it into the Christian theocracy party. The neocons want to turn it into the big business party.

I don't think this schism has disappeared in the right. I think the only difference is we're starting to see this schism in the left.

No I don't think this is a lot of leftists. I don't even think this is many leftists. I think it's a couple of dozen far-left individual and some people still far out of the overton window I would just call them apathetic nihilists.

What the lets you do is First technology to exists II point out that that's not the average left. And third very important condemn it. Just like Donald Trump did with the far-right.

to pretend they're not left or they don't even exist is to be in denial.

I didn't say it my previous post but you do make a good point. This certainly isn't all of the left or even a good portion of it.

I acknowledge the generalization and agree with you it is not accurate.

the schism on the left with some of their ideological fringers is to be expected when it comes to policy. OTOH, they appear singularly united along with a substantial chunk of republicans and the majority of independents in defeating Benedict Trump. Sadly trump seems to be shedding support, not building it. The more he tries and fails the more he whines about rigged elections.

If they are so brave why don't they burn or otherwise desecrate a stack of Korans?

Now that would be an after party I would love to watch.

The schism in the left is really new. Is someone who leans more to the right I always admired the left for its solidarity. I think that was its greatest strength.

In the past six years or so I've seen it fracture.

It's just funny that the people who routinely call others Nazis are doing Nazi things. It's an attempt to highlight irony.

It's funny that you think you know the political persuasion of who burned the bibles.

Who cares? It is basically just a book of fairy tales. Would you be so upset if they burned harry Potter books? It's the same thing.

Well if they bought the Bible's in the flags I don't really care if they're burning their property.

It's just the imagery of totalitarianism to burn books that you don't like.
