Is anyone here against President Trump's potential decision to ban TikTok?

And nobody has an issue with that....ON MILITARY HARDWARE.

The idea that he thinks he can tell some kid what app they can have on private equipment is beyond moronic, and the fact that you are sitting here defending it is just plain hilarious. I'll just say this much.....please don't let me ever see you complain about government overreach again...the irony might just kill me.

holy ****. so Trump (Commander in Chief) saw the MILITARY ban this app on CentGov phones LAST year and our PRESIDENT didn't act then.


man. that makes it twice as bad. Trump was inactive while this app was a National Security threat.


btw, is the National Emergency at our Southern Border now solved? i don't hear much about it anymore.

The comparison is would be laughable if it wasn't so woefully inaccurate.

So you are completely ok with then president (Truman) making the decision that involved hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children to die? (Btw, I support Truman's decision).

YET ... you take issue with the current president banning a Chinese app that has already been banned by our military. Do you see how ridiculous that is?

And Wells Fargo banned the TikTok app ... why do you think that was? Answer : Security concerns

Heck ..... The entire nation of India banned TikTok for security concerns!!!

Yes...considering that it wasn't a unilateral decision. Yes, he ultimately had to give the order, but there was plenty of discussion that went into making that call.

Both the military and Wells Fargo banned the app on BUSINESS EQUIPMENT. What part of that don't you seem to be able to grasp? Neither of them told thier employees they can't have the app on thier personal phones. So no, I don't see my position as ridiculous in the least. What I DO find ridiculous is you still trying to equate ending a ****ing war with a phone app.

I also find it funny that conservatives and Republicans don't want to be like any other country in the world....until they do.

The military and Wells Fargo banned this app from mobile devices they OWN... They did not ban it from personal devices of members of these organizations.. HUGE difference... India gives their government far more powers than we do and I see NO reason to change this. You know it's ridiculously easy to get around any ban, right? The only practical way for a ban to work would be to convince Google and Apple to remove the apps from their stores and I expect a significant legal channel from both.

And the concern of TikTok is bipartisan. I wish that you'd just admit that you hate President Trump so much that you would choose Chinese domination over us rather than simply admit that our President is taking correct action.

A probe is a far cry from banning anything. The Democrats you bring up have asked for a probe.

You missed it by that much....

And you still haven't addressed personal versus business equipment.

And please explain this confluence of amazing stupidity......on the one hand, conservatives will tell you we can't register guns because the government doesn't need to know what you own...and on the other those same people are applauding the same government knowing what apps you are running on your phone and preventing you from using certain ones.

Do you want your personal data on a Chinese app that has been banned by our military, major international banks and India? Think about that for a moment?

No, its not a concern. A probe is just that. An investigation. If they find that there is legitimate cause to talk about further action, then I am fine with it.....short of them banning the product. As you guys always say, that should be a market function when it comes to general populace. I'm fine with businesses banning apps on thier internal networks and on thier company paid for equipment. I've said that like 100 times already. I'm not okay with them trying to tell me what I can and can't do on my personal equipment.

I worry as much about ByteDance having my information as I do Google, which is to say not at all. The idea that you are all but wetting yourself over the Chinese having your information while American companies get rich pimping your information amongst themselves is beyond irrational.

Think about THAT for a moment.

What do you think they could get that they just couldn't buy from Facebook or Google?

Your personal data is the product they sell, the reason they exist.

I wish we didn't have to ban anything. But just the same as with this virus/pandemic people do not seem smart enough to protect themselves. If the Chinese clearly are using this to spy on Americans and steal information I really could care less if he bans it. I have no use for a risky website. I don't use face book because of the risk. I am not sure I even should be on twitter other than to get up to date information from Trump.
