The NBA's single dissenter

I enjoy watching the NBA. I also enjoy watching the PGA. Go figure.

The NBA has become extremely popular over the past 10-15 years. I started watching in 1993-1994 as a Chicago Bulls fan, the year MJ played baseball. Scottie Pippen was my favorite player, and I was very annoyed when they called the phantom foul on him in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, game 5 against New York, contesting Hubert Davis.

I also watched the NBA Summer League when LeBron joined the league. A lot of people do not like him, but his unselfish play when he first started in the league caught my attention and I still marvel at his passing. His defensive progression has also been great to watch from a youngster with the athleticism to defend but lack of will to do so, to nearly winning defensive player of the year several times, to now as his game slows down and his mind has to make up for it.

I played on the playgrounds for years in Boulder, CO. My game did not really round out until I was in my late 20s, but there is nothing like that feeling when the ball goes in no matter what shot is taken. Before Steph Curry, I was making game winners from near half court. I love watching and miss playing.

You mean true patriots who honor the flag and he national anthem? As opposed to sorry unpatriotic rich basketball players who made their fortunes due to America's great capitalistic economic system and freedom to aspire to any goal you like, who chose to disrespect both the flag and the national anthem by kneeling. Insulting the country and its traditions that allowed them to become rich! They also insulted a large section of the America public by their actions.

These pro sports teams and other companies bowing in submission to corporate and social blackmail are in for a huge surprise. When they see half empty arenas and a fraction of the TV audience maybe they'll learn. When people stop buying the products of these kow-towing cowards, maybe they'll figure out that a noisy minority are the ones they are afraid of and that they are alienating the very people who've made them wealthy.

****'em. They're millionaires and they whine about oppression? **** them to hell and any other rich asshole that tries to piss-n-moan about how they've been "oppressed".

So rich people should not care about their fellow man

The NBA has been progressive since the 1950s and 1960s, much like Baseball before it. Participants in professional sports in general tend to be more progressive. It has not affected most leagues in any significant way.

What apdst does not realize is that many of the men from minority backgrounds who play professional sports experienced oppression while growing up. They succeeded in spite of where they were raised. Ron Artest, or Metta World Peace, spoke about how he played basketball in a neighborhood where a stray bullet could take the lives of anyone on the court. After retiring, he raised money through an auction for his championship ring and donated that money to charity. Just because professional athletes are wealthy and do not experience oppression now does not mean that they have forgotten the communities they grew up in, and that is why they give back to those communities with the wealth they have to try to improve the situation for future generations.

My personal feelings are irrelevant. The article's message, CNN being an official Party source, views Isaac as the dissenter. This is mostly based on his refusal to wear a BLM shirt. We've advanced from the NFL days seeing that an entire sports organization is now on board with BLM and the disruption of the Western-prescribed nuclear family requirement.

For the time being, I'm allowed to 'not wear' a BLM shirt in public or at work. In addition, WalMart, Target and grocery stores currently do not require a BLM shirt for entry.

I'll continue to dissent and 'not wear' a BLM shirt for as long as possible. However, once a certain percentage of the population starts wearing them (perhaps 30%), I'll certainly comply with Party regulations.

Wake me up when Biden is president and he gives a speech where he says "Fire that son of a bitch"

I was. Much respect to all those who have teh courage of conviction.

I saw this guy standing and he won my respect even though I don't necessarily agree with him.
Your original response to my question does not align with the position you now assert.

There's no difference between wearing a mask and taking a knee.

what on earth are you talking about?
I couldn’t have been more clear.

Go back and compare your two separate responses to the same question. They do not align.

An unintentional error on my part. You responded to a post not directed at you as though you were the intended recipient. I mistook who I responded to. If anyone’s trolling now, it’s you.

All NBA players complied with Party political requirements save for one:

Jonathan Isaac responds after being the lone NBA player to stand for National Anthem - CNN

Last night, every NBA player who restarted the league's 2020 season kneeled during the National Anthem while wearing "Black Lives Matter" shirts.

Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac became the first NBA player to stand for the National Anthem as the league resumed play after a 20-week hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

...seeming to be intentional about *not* wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt.... I dunno, man...

The players were required to wear an official Party shirt and kneel for the anthem. A lone dissident, identified by the Party as "Jonathan Isaac", did not wear the required shirt.

He also remained standing for the national anthem of the former United States of America.

Hopefully this dissenter is held up as example. Perhaps a re-education camp? I'd say it's fitting given the overt disobedience to the Party.

he tore his acl. He is no longer an issue anymore.

Wearing a mask in public has all of the medical utility found in one of those little colored ribbons that people wear in solidarity with popular causes. It is nothing more or less than a genuflection to authority born out of gullibility or acquiescence.

Man, you don't know anything about basketball. But as to the post: it's funny, because Isaac is known as a player whose value is his ability to defend. I think it's amusing and ironic but I also don't think this story is interesting at all. But if you care, that's cool.

No, I mean Uncle Tom's
