I dare the left to name any other Dixiecrats that joined the GOP other than these two...

I’m talking about Dixiecrat politicians from the 1960’s. These are the only two. Prove me wrong.....

Albert Watson from the House
Strom Thurmond from the Senate

Now go ahead left! Can you name anyone else?

What on Earth are you talking about?
Everyone just left the Democratic Party, and voters elected Republicans.
Don't **** around, I lived through it as a young man. You weren't even born yet and your parents weren't even old enough to vote either.
The Democrats made inroads with an entirely new audience in the Solid South.
If you don't understand the role played by Lee Atwater and Richard Nixon, then you better learn.

Revisionists will be EATEN.

You’re just dodging it buddy and you know it. My parents were born in 1941 and 1943 by the way. You’re called out and you know it. I also dare you to find ANY racist statement by Nixon. Not just anything that you say “is in code” in which you can’t prove. Moron.

Did you just call me a moron?
Hey, internet tough guy...

A president, other than Trump anyway, would never dirty their hands however...since you asked:

I think you'd better learn that despite this being an anonymous board, it would behoove you to conduct yourself as if you were speaking face to face.

The op is missing two at least. John Bowden Connally Jr. and Mills E. Godwin Jr.

What point do you think you're making?

The vast majority of Southerners just decided to quit voting Democrat and they started voting Republican instead. Because Kennedy and LBJ fought for the rights of black people. And the racist whites living in the South couldn't accept that.

“Nixon emphasized that you have to face the fact that the whole problem is really the blacks. The key is to devise a system that recognized this while not appearing to".
-Nixon White House Chief of Staff H. R. Haldeman

“From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.”
-Kevin Phillips, Nixon’s chief political strategist, 1972

None of this is “in code”.

Not an exhaustive list by any means as it is missing many state and local leaders.

Strom Thurmond
Jesse Helms
John Tower
Rep. William C. Cramer
Rep. Edward Gurney
Rep. Dave Treen
Rep. Iris Faircloth Blitch
Rep. James D. Martin
Rep. Bill Dickinson
Rep. Bo Callaway
Rep. Albert Watson
Thad Cochran
Rep. Trent Lott
Taylor O'Hearn
W.D. Workman
Marshall Parker
Mills Godwin
SC Rep. Arthur Ravenel Jr.
SC Rep. Floyd Spence
Texas Rep. Jack Cox
Mississippi Sen. Stanford Morse
Alabama Rep. Albert Goldthwaite
Louisiana Rep. Roderick Miller
South Carolina Sen. Marshall Parker
Or you can consider the switches made by state-level elected officials. For instance, in 1968, five of the top officeholders in Georgia switched from the Democrats to the Republicans

There was also this one that I was surprised was missed: Gessner T. McCorvey

In 1951, McCorvey was ousted from his chairmanship of the state party. His successor was Ben Ray, a Birmingham lawyer and leader of those Alabama Democrats who continued to support the national party. In one of his last speeches before the committee, McCorvey pledged that he would boycott the 1952 presidential election because he could not support the reelection of Harry Truman. Privately, McCorvey raised money and distributed campaign material for the Republican nominee, Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, who ultimately defeated the eventual Democratic candidate Adlai Stevenson.

From the Nixon White House tapes:
"We're going to [put] more of these little N***** bastards on the welfare rolls at $2,400 a family—let people like [New York Sen.] Pat Moynihan ... believe in all that crap. But I don't believe in it. Work, work—throw 'em off the rolls. That's the key."
"I have the greatest affection for the blacks, but I know they're not going to make it for 500 years. They aren't. You know it, too. The Mexicans are a different cup of tea. They have a heritage. At the present time they steal, they're dishonest, but they do have some concept of family life. They don't live like a bunch of dogs, which the N*****s do live like."

From the Reagan Library Tapes (a phone call between then-Gov. Reagan and President Nixon, Oct. 1971):
Reagan (to Nixon), "Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing (a controversial UN vote to seat China and Taiwan) on television as I did."
Nixon: "Yeah."
Reagan: "To see those, those monkeys from those African countries -- damn them, they're still uncomfortable wearing shoes!"
Nixon: "Yeah, and the tail really does wag the dog!"

There are more such quotes available, of course. But almost everyone already understands that Nixon was a bigot. Nixon was a loathsome human being, in general. That's only "news" to you, I suspect. What a lot of people (primarily just white people) may not have understood, however, was that Reagan was, as well.

So now...who's the "moron" between you and Checkerboard, huh eman? Please be candid in your response.

This is the George Wallace electoral map. Entire states, from what was once the "Solid Blue" South, voted for a third-party segregationist.

Notice Texas is still blue back then. Now the entire South is Red. How can you deny that the segregationist voters turned red?

Nice try, but I'm talking about those in FEDERAL OFFICES, and some of these switched BEFORE the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Just slink away in shame white winger.

Not really. You had to be in FEDERAL CONGRESS to vote in order to vote on the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Which doesn't change the fact that its the culture that of the parties that changed over time which Kruse's article explains in great detail if you ever bother to read it. Why would segregationist Democrats after losing the vote in 64' in their own party by a near 60/40 split just up and abandon their party for a party who passed it by an even greater majority? That's not how political or cultural shifts happen. They happen gradually over time.
