Giant multi-national corporations are now supporting Black Lives Matter. They are encouraging diversity by having race quotas. White men can be fired, or not hired, because they are the wrong color.

Why would giant corporations be so interested in supporting BLM?

Here's my theory:

Racial quotas are guaranteed to create a backlash of resentment on the "right." This, in turn will increase the anger on the "left." The American divisiveness between Trump supporters and Trump haters will increase.

Why is that good for giant corporations? It takes the focus off the organized criminals who have hijacked our economic system.

Why are "conservatives" almost always also the conspiracists?

Trumpists...

And the answer is simple: look at what they have to find a way to defend or at the very least deflect from on a daily basis.

Now that's an intelligent comment. Just what I expect from you.

Marxism is usually an alliance of the top and the bottom against the middle. The upper class does fine until it gets to the mass killing stage (and if you support the movement, they might kill you last).

My theory is they are saying it to get cover, but business is business. The best they can hope for is that people “de select” other races for jobs. And to do that you have to clean up your act or else you are just a racial token.

No, they're just going to make sure they don't let personal bias allow them to hire the dumbest white man over a much smarter African American. If you're a reasonably intelligent white guy you shouldn't have any problems at all.

That's why none of the white guys in the Democratic Party have a problem with this, but the white guys in the Republican party are angry. All the stupid white men are Republicans. If they can't use their white skin to give themselves an advantage they'll be doomed.
But the white men in the Democratic party know we're smart enough we won't be on the chopping block at all.

Incorrect.

There are no quotas. They're illegal. They've been illegal since 2009.

You cannot fire someone because of their race, including "Caucasian." That's discrimination. It's also illegal.

Why would giant corporations be so interested in supporting BLM?
Because the vast majority of Americans are finally waking up, and realize that racism is still a very serious issue in this country, and that even a lot of white people don't want to support racist corporations anymore.

I'd add, though, that at this point corporate "support for anti-racism" is a lot of talk and very little walk. There is still a lot of racist discrimination happening at these corporations that are posting their black squares and feeble platitudes on Instagram.

Racial quotas are guaranteed to create a backlash of resentment on the "right."...
Your theory is wrong from the outset, because quotas are illegal.

Democrats = good, smart
Republicans = bad, stupid

All ya need to know, that's says it.

OF COURSE there are quotas! If a company has a policy of making sure 30% of its workers are black (for example), they must hire a certain number of blacks. That is a quota. They can call it "diversity hiring," or whatever, it is still a quota.

I mean really.

It's because corporations realise they can change their branding without hurting their profits by changing any of their business practices. They're trying to co-opt a grassroots social movement so they can make money out of it. It won't stop black people getting killed or getting thrown in jail and basically won't advance the objective behind black lives matter. But the corporations have done a cost-benefit analysis in one of their financial and legal departments somewhere, figured out now is the time to get on the bandwagon and make themselves look good on TV. Depressingly, people will fall for it and think that the product has changed, when it's only the packaging.

Yeah, good point. It's so obviously fake. And guaranteed to do the opposite of the supposed intentions. It brings race into focus and ignites resentment.

It could also be bad. Not everyone approves of BLM.

I think they want Americans to hate each other, so we can't unite against them.

Giant multi-national corporations are now supporting Black Lives Matter.

That's because they finally figured out a truism of the free market, the fact that black people buy stuff and if they go on pretending that black lives "DON'T MATTER", those black lives may decide to not spend some of their money with them.

Nothing else matters, it's the free market, a thing you cons are supposedly well versed with.
Everything else you spouted is you exercising your superpowers.

Again: Quotas are illegal. The SCOTUS declared them illegal in 2009. Any company with an explicit quota is begging to get sued for discrimination.

If you look at the executives of most companies, you won't see 50% women or 12% African-American or 5% LGBT and so on. It's almost all still straight, cis, white dudes.

If you look at the Fortune 500, there are only five African-Americans (all men) and 37 women (all white).

Explicitly recruiting minorities and/or women is legal because... wait for it... THAT'S NOT A QUOTA. They could spend as much effort as they want recruiting minorities and women, and none recruiting white dudes. What they can't do is say "30% of the people we hire must be black" or "50% of our workforce must be women."

Go ahead, show us any actual evidence you have of companies that set quotas and don't get busted for it.

In some cases that's the god's honest truth, if only because that is all the free market requires. People are voting with their wallets. In a few cases, maybe something a wee bit more egalitarian but in the end, it's all bottom-lined and the bottom line is, pissing people off drives down profits.

To @Good4Nothin: Another thing you're apparently ignoring is the fact that, because Black Lives Matter is still so decentralized, their focus is still a bit scattershot but that is also good in a number of ways.

For instance, I am not a marxist, nor have I ever been one, so the two founders attempting to burnish their marxist credentials does absolutely nothing for me. I am educated enough to smell and recognize marxist boilerplate when I hear or see it, and it doesn't do anything to float my boat.
But the good part is, BLM's platform borrowed heavily from every other cause that preceded it too, so when I recognize those concepts and those goals, and when I see where BLM has updated them and expanded on them, I support those things.
I do not need to be a marxist to support advancement of human dignity, or to support ending the corrupt structures that give safe harbor to white supremacy.
I don't have to be a marxist at all to support ideas like police reform either. Where BLM or its partners veer too far off into wild ideas that are too far left, I ignore them.

And guess what? I suspect that is what corporate folks do as well...because hopefully educated people who work there figure out what can apply to them and their way of doing business while ignoring stuff that is too far off in left field.

In conclusion, with any group, cause, or creed, there will always be a subset of people who espouse much more radical ideas than the mainstream. If their ideas are too radical, guess what?
They DON'T SELL.

It could also be bad. Not everyone approves of BLM.
Corporations don't have to appeal to everyone.

For example, Nike made a huge campaign around Colin Kaepernick after the whole anthem-knee controversy. They knew it would aggravate some of their existing customers, did it anyway, and it succeeded in a big way -- lots of attention and increased profit margins.

Similarly, the owner of Hobby Lobby doesn't care very much that it has a bad rep in the LGBT community.

What she also isn't aware of is the fact that no matter what, once a person is hired, if their performance is documented as substandard, they generally wind up not keeping their job, so in the end no matter who got hired, they also still have to be good enough to be able to keep their job.

You are just playing with words. "On June 9, Adidas announced at least 30% of new hires would be Black or Latino. (A good-faith target, not a quota.)"

Corporations are drunk on Diversity. Race is everything , followed by homosexuals. Quota hiring is the norm. Prostrating before BLM is expected.
