Trump has now ticked up every box on the list of twelve early warning signs of full authoritarian fascism:


  1. Powerful and continuing nationalism
  2. Disdain for human rights
  3. Identification of enemies as a unifying cause
  4. Rampant sexism
  5. Controlled mass media
  6. Obsession with national security
  7. Religion and government intertwined
  8. Corporate power protected
  9. Labor power suppressed
  10. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts
  11. Obsession with crime and punishment
  12. Rampant cronyism and corruption

Trump has pretty much threatened to enforce martial law by invoking the Insurrection Act through which he would deploy at least 10,000 active duty soldiers to crush and "dominate" protesters.
He is deploying unmarked "little green men" to enforce "proactive arrests" in full violation of constitutional requirements for due process and probable cause.

Trump also threatened to attack the protesters outside of the White House with the Secret Service and their "ominous" weapons and "vicious dogs." The protesters outside of the White House were shot with rubber bullets, choked with tear gas, and beaten by police and other law enforcement forces at Trump's and William Barr's command. Why? So that Donald Trump could have a photo op where he could look "strong" as he walked from the White House to St. John's Episcopal Church across the street in what was a Christian fascist authoritarian spectacle, a spectacle which many Christian leaders have condemned.

The good news is that Trump thinks it would only take ten thousand of these little green men to put down protests.
I honestly think that if he actually tries to send ten thousand of his praetorian guards, it will trigger a backlash that completely transcends most of the left and right, because the moderate center left and center right, the largest bloc by far, will have decided, if they haven't already, that enough is enough.

And they will reach that decision at least in large part due to the fact that Trump's little green men will continue to up the constitutional violations until they become impossible to ignore...by ANYONE.
No amount of manufactured narratives of wild-eyed marxists will sell in light of the crimes being committed by his goon squads.

What a joke! No decent American would even dare to suggest that the Federal government could unilaterally send troops (and they are soldiers, regardless of which agency employs them), to occupy any place inside the United States, without the request of the local government.

This is out and out facism, in its rawest form. Anyone who ever lived in a police state would recognize it instantly.

And you’re cheering for it.

This would have been unthinkable before the reactionary right wing finally got its heart’s desire and elected a man who fully intends to end democracy in this country.

So, what would following the law be, when the 100 or so peaceful protesters are replaced by 1000 rioters, who try to block the exits of the federal courthouse, so people inside can’t get out, and then try to burn the building down? No action, like the mayor is doing? Sounds like a crime is being committed.

The principal that police power belongs to state and local government has long been established by practice and precident.

Trump’s action exceed Presidential authority (not that he cares, he’s the fuhrer, after all). They violate the First, Forth and Tenth Amendments, and Article II.

I could find no evidence to support that claim at all. It appears to have been manufactured by Glen Beck (a very reliable “journalist”!) and parroted around the right wing trash blogosphere, and, no doubt, shared across Trumpster social media, where fake news is coin of the realm.

“When officers responded to put out these fires, glass bottles were thrown and lasers – which can cause permanent blindness – were shined in their eyes,” Cline said. “We have three officers who currently have eye injuries and they may not recover sight in those eyes from those laser attacks.”

The FPS has purchased anti-laser glasses that federal officers are now wearing to prevent eye injuries".
