GOP gallery of nightmares: 10 policies Biden and Democrats would ram through after axing filibuster

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden put Republicans on notice this week: If you use the filibuster to stymie his agenda, you’ll lose it.

“It's going to depend on how obstreperous they become,” Biden said of eliminating the 60-vote threshold to end debate. The former vice president previously resisted getting rid of the filibuster but now says, “you’re just going to have to take a look at it.” If Biden wins and Democrats capture the Senate, this would enable them to pass legislation with a simple majority, leaving Republicans powerless to stop them.

Here are 10 liberal policies that Biden and the Democrats could enact without the filibuster that would be difficult to get through if it remained in effect:

I am totally glad I don’t have to work anymore to support myself. The Green New Deal relies on transfer payments from unpopular industry “A” to popular industry “B”. BTW, most unions are in industry “A”, so the rank and file is unlikely to go for the deram job in industry “B”.

There is no room for minority opinions in Biden's authoritarian world-view.

The filibuster is a relic of a bygone era. It’s toast. Republicans did away with the judicial filibuster to ram through 200 lifetime court seats, and Democrats are going to do away with the legislative filibuster to get their laws passed.

I rather doubt that rank and file Democrats will allow getting rid of the filibuster. They are smart enough to know that the political pendulum swings both ways, and that power is not maintained forever in the Senate. I, for one, would hate to see what a Republican controlled Senate could ram through with a simple majority vote.

That being said, it would be some sweet sweet comeuppance after what Republicans did to the supreme court threshold

Got a link?

The Supremes issue was due to Harry Reid removing the SCOTUS judge filibuster from 60 to majority.

"Oil company crackdowns," a public option, the DREAM Act. Truly the stuff of wingnut nightmares.

Yeah! Who needs that pesky "checks and balances" crap!

Every time the Dems take the high road, the people you vote for cheat. When they cheat, you cheer. You have nothing to complain about it.

What, you expected to be able to eternally elect lying cheating crooks who cheat every time they can without the Democrats ever starting to fight back?

Hell, don't be surprised if they straight up pack SCOTUS. It's what you invited when you cheered on their cheating re: Garland.

How about they eliminate the filibuster and then restore it in a lame duck session if they loose power? It would be totally a McConnellesque move.

WASHINGTON—Senate Republicans voted to end the filibuster of Supreme Court nominations Thursday, setting the stage for the rapid elevation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the high court and removing a pillar of the minority party’s power to exert influence in the chamber.

Reid changed to drop filibuster below SCOTUS level. So it may as well go the same way with SCOTUS.

It's true that Reid opened the door. It was the Republicans who walked through it. Reid dropped the filibuster for judges below SC lever because Republicans were blocking every single nomination Obama made along with every single bill, including his budgets. This wasn't governing. This was a vendetta. Republicans poisoned the well and now they complain about the water.

Look up "Ballot Box 13" on the internet. Talk about cheating and voting.
