Jeff Sessions loses Alabama GOP Senate runoff

Kowtowing to Trump made Sessions look exceedingly WEAK. There is no fixing that, and I hope all Trump toadies are unemployable in this business ever again.

:lamo Sessions was the first person of note in the GOP to come out and support Trump. Before anyone thought he had a shot, Sessions was right there, ready to hate immigrants and Muslims with the same vigor as Trump. Then he was cast aside like a well used tire. As the White House turns.....
 
Tuberville trounces Sessions in Alabama Senate Republican Runoff

Barring a scandal, Tuberville should easily beat Doug Jones in November for a Republican pick-up, making it harder for Democrats to re-take the Senate.

At this writing, with 42% reporting, Tuberville was ahead by 25 points.
Tommy Tuberville 125,030 62.7%
Jeff Sessions 74,390 37.3

Hopefully there aren’t any shoes to drop on Tuberville.

Unless there is a scandal, he should easily beat Doug Jones, for a Republican pick-up. That will make it more difficult, but not impossible, for Democrats to retake the Senate.

It’s the end of Jeff Sessions’ political career.

I know there’s a lot of hostility towards him for the way he handled what ended up being Mueller-gate, but he was solid on so man of the issues and fought a good fight for decades. He also was the first Republican Senator to endorse Trump at a time the establishment was still laughing.

We expect the R to win Alabama. It is Alabama, after all. But, I expect a clean sweep through CO, ME, NC, IA, AZ and MT, handing the senate majority to Schumer. :)

Maybe we even see KS, TX, SC and KY go blue too. But, I doubt we need that.

That debate is so 2017, man. If he gets reelected, I'll be sure to have it but, I'm focused on the future. And we are closing this chapter of bigoted Republican Presidents.

It's true. Sessions swallowed, and Trump found a new GF. It happens. I've been guilty of it myself, back in the day.
 
All things being equal, Tubberville vs Jones should be a good race. Doug can hit Tommy on the carpet bagger thing, and Tommy T can call Jones Schumer's pet.

I like it.

lol....in the Senate there are only "moderate" democrats. There are no "leftists" winning statewide seats in the US--save for Sanders, but he is an independent. There haven't been any true leftist Dems in the Senate since the 80's. Even Teddy became a triangulation senator during the Clinton years.

Let me guess. You think Clinton was a "Leftist."

The Russia investigations, the Kavanaugh hearings and the impeachment were PATHETIC.

Doug Jones supported those coup efforts and completely ignored the people of Alabama.
