Cancel Culture: Goya Foods CEO calls boycott threats a 'suppression of speech'

Are you willing to provide some proof regarding that ridiculous and very insulting accusation?

Start with the ride down the escalator.........

Irrelevant to his ridiculous statement.

So, spot on.

Just remember, just because you go along or even cheer on and participate in this unholy zombie apocalypse, it doesn't mean they won't come for you some day. Soon.

This is all about control. Do not speak against The Ministry or you will be targeted, isolated, punished and destroyed.

No, it's how FREE speech works. If you want to support Goya, you can. Tout them all you want. Put their products on your Twitter feed, encourage others to buy them. Others can speak against them and encourage us to buy other brands.

If you don't like Nike's ad campaign, buy New Balance shoes. If the NFL pisses you off by allowing players to kneel, don't watch, don't go to NFL games. If the Dixie Chicks criticize Bush, don't buy their records. If stores require employees to say, "happy holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" shop elsewhere.

Have you guys forgotten all these events in very recent history (except the Dixie Chicks, perhaps)?

There is no comparison to be made between that absolute disgrace in the Whitey House, plus his sycophants, and me. So, no worries there.

Sell beans?
How many millions in food have you donated lately?
How many people do you employ and pay so they can support themselves and their families?
And he doesn't "NEED" to do ****.

RIGHT, he doesn't need to do anything. Well, he could brush up on what free speech actually means so he doesn't sound like a complete moron - that would help. Otherwise, you're exactly right - if he wants to get on his knees and kiss Trump's rear end, he can do it, and if some of his customers who see Trump differently disagree with that, they can do what they want - say.....buy from another company!!

What part of this essential element of actual freedom including of speech and association is hard to grasp?

How DARE citizens exercise their right to free speech about the speech of other citizens!

How DARE citizens vote with their wallets!

Right wingers are entitled to say whatever they want free of consequence!

JAIL EVERYONE WHO REFUSES TO BUY GOYA'S PRODUCTS! JAIL EVERYONE WHO CRITICIZED ITS CEO!

It'd be nice if at least one of you Trumpists understood the right you pretend to whine about.

Yeah, in a world of "free speech" the correct response is to find out who's supporting these boycotts and then dox them and demand they be fired them from their jobs for doing it.

Freedom is at it's best when anything you say that someone might disagree with will be used to destroy you.

Individual choice vs. mass targeting for destruction. Hmm...

But if that makes you feel better about targeting other human beings with mob tactics in order to destroy everything they've worked for and love, I have to say, I will never get how that sits well with you.

It won't stop until these radicals are soundly thrashed. If they get power, all the outrages they commit now will seem like child's play.

It will be a full-on cultural revolution.
Vote, and avail yourself of self defense.

Conservatives are all for the free market...until they aren't.

This isn't the invisible hand. C'mon. Stop the b.s.
This is the leftist mob destroying everything which does not agree with their marxist ideology.

If people want to boycott, its the free market. You probably have never even used a Goya product.

What are the acceptable reasons to boycott a company? Please list the lists of thoughts you deem legal.

It's becoming ridiculous. The left are attempting to stifle thought, opinion, and speech.

This has to stop.

Goya makes high quality products, in particular some of the best canned beans (along with Bush's) that I use in my cooking. I don't expect this "boycott" will go anywhere and all of us who enjoy making the best quality meals will still have access to their products.

A lesson tho, even Hispanic founded companies are not immune to attempts to bankrupt them for uttering "profane" thoughts in public. The point is to spread fear and its refreshing to see someone who doesn't have a spine made of jello.

Goya's already on my shelves. Great products.

See problem solved.

People are free to call for a boycott if they want, but I think it's on some rather shallow grounds to do so and likely will fail. It's like the boycott on Chick-FilA, doesn't seem to have hurt that company much. I friggen love Chick Fil A. Though with Goya...I don't eat many beans outside "green"

I enjoy the Goya rice would recommend everyone go buy a box or two and give them a try. The yellow is my favorite but the red beans and rice is also really good.

There juices and nectors make great cocktail mixers

No garbanzos? (Great in salads.)

I think anybody is and should be free to boycott anything he or she pleases. But this cancel culture itself--demanding that someone's career and maybe life be ruined or company destroyed--is awful.

It's out of hand, but things are out of hand on both sides. It would be great if the Republic would just grow the **** up and get on with it. Where we wouldn't be forced into options like Trump v Biden. But it is what it is, and the rights and liberties of the individual need to be upheld. So we'll have to put up with this until such point where we decide, as a people, to grow up.

Oh, and I do eat Baked Beans and Refried beans from time to time. But beans got lots o' carbs, gotta watch them.

Baked beans are delicious. They are therefore evil. Chickpeas, however, are very good for you--rich in plant-based protein and fiber. Member of my household was diagnosed with diabetes last month, and the nutritionist recommended these and also kidney beans. Studies are ongoing on whether chickpeas serve as an appetite suppressant.
