EXCLUSIVE: Chinese virologist accuses Beijing of coronavirus cover-up, flees Hong Kong: '''I know how they treat whistleblowers''' | Fox News

Yan told Fox News in an exclusive interview that she believes the Chinese government knew about the novel coronavirus well before it claimed it did. She says her supervisors, renowned as some of the top experts in the field, also ignored research she was doing at the onset of the pandemic that she believes could have saved lives.

She adds that they likely had an obligation to tell the world, given their status as a World Health Organization reference laboratory specializing in influenza viruses and pandemics, especially as the virus began spreading in the early days of 2020.

Yan, now in hiding, claims the government in the country where she was born is trying to shred her reputation and accuses government goons of choreographing a cyber-attack against her in hopes of keeping her quiet.

Yan's story weaves an extraordinary claim about cover-ups at the highest levels of government and seemingly exposes the obsessive compulsion of President Xi Jinping and his Communist Party to control the coronavirus narrative: what China knew, when it knew it and what edited information it peddled to the rest of the world.

One friend, a scientist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China, had first-hand knowledge of the cases and purportedly told Yan on Dec. 31 about human-to-human transmission well before China or the WHO admitted such spread was possible.

She reported some of these early findings back to her boss, Yan said.

"He just nodded," she recalled, and told her to keep working.

A few days later, on Jan. 9, 2020, the WHO put out a statement: "According to Chinese authorities, the virus in question can cause severe illness in some patients and does not transmit readily between people... There is limited information to determine the overall risk of this reported cluster.”

Doctors and researchers who had been openly discussing the virus suddenly clammed up. Those from the city of Wuhan--which later would become the hub of the outbreak--went silent and others were warned not to ask them details.

The doctors said, ominously, "We can't talk about it, but we need to wear masks,'" Yan said.

"There are many, many patients who don't get treatment on time and diagnosis on time," Yan said. "Hospital doctors are scared, but they cannot talk. CDC staff are scared."

She said she reported her findings to her supervisor again on Jan. 16 but that's when he allegedly told her "to keep silent, and be careful."

"As he warned me before, 'Don't touch the red line,'" Yan said referring to the government. "We will get in trouble and we'll be disappeared."

She also claims the co-director of a WHO-affiliated lab, Professor Malik Peiris, knew but didn't do anything about it.

You’re way late to the party, ludin.

Claims that the Chinese government delayed informing other countries about the emergence of the virus has been widely reported for months.

I guess that's why Trump spent the first part of the year praising Xi and China, so he could be proven right about his praise for their handling of Covid19.

I find it hilarious that an accusation that backs up trump's opinion is immediately a fact. An accusation that accuses trump of wrongdoing is a hoax. Why does that not surprise me?

Exactly. Some Trumpelievers are incredibly flexible, the way they follow all the Dear Leader's flip-flops and contortions.

Check out the dictionary for the difference between proof and claims. With this op it is always "Such a blunder sometimes it makes me wonder why I even bring the thunder"

Accusations don't prove anything. What the hell does this have to do with Democrats?

Right. Accusations only mean something when the subject of the accusation is Trump, one of Tump's supporters or someone you believe might have supported Trump. Hell, you can impeach a guy based on accusations alone as long as you're accusing the right guy.

They will not try to refute the article. The deal is they want to focus the attack on Trump and clear China.

What are you talking about? I didn't say this accusation didn't mean anything. I said it doesn't prove anything, as the OP asserts. The impeachment is irrelevant, and comparing an interview of one woman with weeks of investigations, testimony, documents and hearings is just a tad bit disingenuous.

So Trump was "right" after he was wrong 15 times? Are we supposed to applaud that?

What has this got to do with Trump or America?

You will need a different article since that article is about China. Why did you leap to a conclusion it was to be about Trump or America?

Why would I refute the article? I have no reason to think Yan is lying. She's probably right. What the hell are you trying to argue here?

When the accusation fits your narrative you demand investigations, firings, imprisonment, destruction of businesses, etc. When it doesn't fit your narrative you simply dismiss it as "it doesn't prove anything". It's all part of the "justice for me but none for thee" mentality that has completely overtaken the political left.

Something has you triggered, but it's not my posts. I'm not part of the political left. I care little about them. Mirror images of the political right, IMO. See that little thingy that says Independent, to your left?

If leftists trigger you, scream at them. I'm looking for rational debate concerning the OP.
