Who cared when on March 23rd, New York was sending up SOS flags with a shortage of PPE running out?

Who cared when on March 30th, nurses at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NY were forced to make gowns out of Hefty trash bags?

Who cared when front line workers, nurses, doctors, nurse aides, therapists had to literally beg for masks and gloves?

Who cared when ICU nurses had to stand outside with signs begging for PPE after working a 16 hour shift with patients infected with a deadly virus?

Who cared when hospital workers had to hold up photos of their doctors that died while they pleaded for help from the government?

If I sound angry you're hearing correctly, I'm very angry. I got over the anger I felt as all this was happening in real time once New York got it under control. Once I thought, 'okay, this will be alright now' and everyone else will take this experience and use it in their states as a model of how to attack the spread of this pandemic.

That didn't happen. Now several states are going to relive the nightmare that we thought could be avoided through the lessons learned from New York. We are a stupid country.

New York State has the fourth largest population, and New York City is still the city with the largest population of all cities in the USA. List of United States cities by population - Wikipedia

They have a sizeable tax base and both are run by Democrat governments, Cuomo as Governor, and de Blasio as Mayor.

If there is a problem with resources, why aren't they devoting more of the State and City's revenue to combatting the disease?

Didn't NYC just cut the NYPD budget by $1 billion?

If you are going to assess blame, make sure you spread it all around and not just your personal political targets. :coffeepap:

Why didn't the ****ing Trump administration HELP immediately?

Do you realize that PPE gowns are meant to be a ONE-TIME-USE only piece of equipment? Do you realize that these nurses were forced to wear the SAME gown from patient to patient which is against all laws and all principles of infection control. You knew that, right? Covering up an already 'soiled' gown in order to prevent cross-contamination was the only option. YOU KNEW THAT, RIGHT?

You are the type thinks this is funny aren't you? Oh well to support a phony leader without a conscience, it shouldn't surprise me you are one of Hillary's basket dwellers.....

The trash bags didn't cover the sleeves. The trash bag thing was just another hoax. Just like they lied about running out of PPE. They never ran out of PPE.

I think the lies are very funny.

You do realize before Covid 19 the PPE those nurses are wearing were considered disposable, right? They then became reusable hence the trash bags. Some people are just ignorant morons.

Trump is a soul-less, heartless, careless, sub-human. Only those like-kinds defend a man such as that.

Did you openly weep with joy when Trump HEROICALLY drank water single handedly after crying for 15 minutes about a Ramp "sleepy Joe" runs on? Sure ya did! The triumph of the human spirit in that monent was EPIC!

Let's relive that great American drama!

The whole world lauded our president's bravery and heroism!

They never ran out of PPE. The mass grave story was a lie and they never even used the Navy hospital ship.

Sub-human? Hitler would be proud...lol

They didn't run out because they were forced to reuse PPE. Let me reiterate, they were forced to reuse what was normally disposable. I am not familiar with the mass grave story. I am familiar with bodies being stored in trucks because there just too many. The main reason the Navy ship wasn't used was it was supposed to be for non Covid patients. Those dropped drastically so the ship wasn't used. (A few patients) The Javits center make shift hospital was used.

After it was sanitized.

Many Hospitals Now Sanitize And Reuse Masks. Workers And Researchers Have Safety Questions | CommonHealth

But that wasn't happening at the height of the crisis in April and there is quite of bit of debate as to how effectively and for how long they can be reused/sanitized. Face it, you made a flippant remark without checking and I called you on it. Time to move on, or not.

But how many times can a mask be cleaned and reused — and still be safe?

That’s a question nurse s, doctors and medical researchers are asking, as hospitals and first responders across the country increasingly turn to decontaminating masks at mass scale, from Boston's most prestigious hospitals to the Los Angeles County sheriff's office. One arm of the federal government is allowing for 20 cycles of cleaning for a single mask. Another suggests three. Many hospitals are touting five to 10.

To which leader do you refer? Cuomo or De Blasio?

What does this specific case have to do with Trump? New York is a big state. I don't see how they couldn't have gotten the supplies they needed when they needed them. Why didn't they?

Because TRUMP told them "screw you guys- get into a bidding war against each other for PPE, I'm out"

Basically that's what he said to them, go help yourself, go find PPE, go find tests, go find ventilators, etc. 'Just don't bother me with it'

And there just were none because the US doesn't make **** anymore. They had to go buy them from China and S. Korea. Trump wouldn't put in an executive order for companies here to prioritize those items for a very long time and only did because he was under immense pressure to do so.

Again, where does Trump enter into this? Why would a state be buying medical supplies from the Federal Government and not from medical suppliers?
