I give credit to the republicans who no longer will support the divisive, ignorant, racist anti-American manchild in the White House.

A group of President Donald Trump’s critics on the right is out with a new video and this one uses the words of former President Ronald Reagan to make the case against Trump’s reelection.

The video mixes his words from 40 years ago with news footage from today to create a damning indictment of the Trump presidency:

Republican Voters Against Trump is one of several anti-Trump groups working against his reelection. Others include The Lincoln Project, best known for producing viral anti-Trump videos, and Republicans for a New President, which is holding a virtual anti-Trump convention at the same time as the Republican National Convention next month.

Earlier this month, alumni from the administration of former President George W. Bush also announced their own PAC to work in support of Biden.

So some republicans are using their tools of manipulation against trump.

It's not something I ever considered, tbh.

It has to be at the behest of their donors, who are likely afraid that their feeding will be curtailed if trump causes them to lose both houses and the presidency.

But I'll take it at this point

Great commercial.

I can see 15% of republicans not voting for Trump, something that's unheard of.

The republicans have to unhitch their wagon from the Trump followers, they're not real republicans.

Do you get the feeling that this is a Republican civil war?

I think the Gingrich school is losing it's allure.

The problem of bringing the full weight of the persuasion sciences into our politics is that they are based on emotions, not reason. Emotions are neurochemicals, drugs our brains produce that encourage pro survival behaviors, all of our "drives" are instinctive responses reinforced with pleasurable neurochemicals as well.

But when you base your politics on emotions you create tolerance, as happens with all drugs. So your target audience needs more stimulation more often.

And here we are thirty years later with a third of the population fervently believing that half the country is involved in a grand conspiracy to turn the country into some authoritarian communist hell, as the people who fund their conditioning use their votes to drag us closer and closer to plutocracy.

I think they are facing a crisis where too many don't get off enough on the narratives anymore to excuse the things they are supposed to excuse, and that their propagandists are actually afraid of what is called the "gag point" in the industries. The point where your target audeience realizes you've been blowing smoke up their asses and turns on you.

It is actually possible at this point that trump could he a good thing for this country.

By simply failing dramatically and dividing relentlessly.

It's been my hope since the election that this will be the case. The pendulum has to swing.

It's not something I'll get hopeful about; but we could literally be one election away from a GOP minority that starts working with the other side of the aisle out of necessity. The democrats need to not trust them much, but, it could be genuine, and work well. Can't wish against it, but I will not hold my breath...

I personally believe it is good to have a fairly balanced Senate and House. We need pushback on legislation and compromise, or America leans too far in one direction and the bottom falls out. The last twelve years or so has seen barriers instead of pushback. Many pieces of legislation that should have passed or at least been discussed for compromise did not even make it through either the Senate or the House purely because the party on the opposing side blocked it out of spite. It would be a very nice change of pace to see both parties working across the aisle.
