That's just it, you shouldn't be criminally charged for making a mistake. Civil court is a different story. Getting back to the police, if police make a mistake the department will pay civilly through the ying yang and, if needed, the individual police persons could be reprimanded. The department is liable for damages, not the police person who makes a mistake. Now the George Floyd thing is a different story. That wasn't a mistake.

I believe it happens far more than we hear about. Problem is there is no news in people going good, So the bad gets reported.

Stats....you can extrapolate that by the amount of cops there are.....to cop related deaths if you want to use that as a criteria, 800,000 cops in America, 1300 deaths by cop....that's everything, including justifiable deaths etc, but if you take the 800,000 cops and say they interact with civilians just ONCE per shift, that,s 288,000,000 interactions per year.....again....1300 deaths.....if you are using that...

he said "good" cops. he didn't say how many had been busted or how many had been caught doing something wrong.

now, how do you calculate good/bad cops (including those that are bad that haven't been exposed yet/those that will never be exposed)?

800,000 cops

1,300 deaths by cops a year.

Assumption 1: each cop, has one interaction with civilans per shift, that works out to 288,000,000 interactions per year

So when he says 99% of the cops are good cops....is he wrong? If so..how?

uh, i'm talking about the actual bad cops that haven't been busted yet or will never be busted. how are you accounting for them.

it's no different than trying to account for tax cheats (that are never caught). they're cheating but, according to your math, they're not cheating.

Depends on what was going on. If it was 4 in the morning then doing an FI makes perfect sense as it could be a mental health issue or a DV issue. Asking a quick, “how’s it going?” Can tell you quite a lot in some cases.
