Patriotism Is Becoming ‘White Supremacy’

The right supports a man who told a war hero that he didn't like people who are captured.

The right has no room to define "patriotism" any more.

I know you said this tongue-in-cheek, but I hope you're not advocating that 'because they do it, we'll do it'.

For many years, I considered the conservative view as those (generally, not all) that made space for ideologues (mostly religious), and that conservative public figures and leaders were on average (but not all) more interested in manipulating an argument to advance their own agenda. I found this behaviour to be a form of deceit, and it repulsed me. I was proud to wear a badge of liberalism, which I thought stood for truth, honestly, reason and an acknowledgment of real problems to be met with a rationed arguments and responses.

Fast forward, and liberalism is sadly losing ground. I still hold to formerly liberal values, but the new left increasingly does not. I see manipulations being inserted in arguments to sway public opinion, I see ideology rear it's ugly head now on the far left, reason and honestly seems to now take a back seat to agenda. All of the things that once repulsed me about the former conservative playbook are now to be found in pockets scattered throughout the left. It is truly disappointing.

I can't call myself conservative, since I hold only a few of their policy positions and find myself much more in agreement with the liberal mindset, but I admit I'm ashamed of what the far left has become.

Neither side has all the answers, I agree with some stands on the issues from both and disagree on others. I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats over the years but I am now left in the position where there is little choice due to the fact that the Republican Party I once supported simply no longer exists. The GOP has in my opinion proven time and time again that they simply don't represent the American People but have thrown their full support behind someone that is not a Conservative or a Republican. So while I still don't think the Dems are anywhere near perfect the alternative is simply not acceptable. In 2016 I voted across Party lines but abstained for voting for either Presidential candidate, the will not happen this time, for the first time in my many years of voting I will be voting a straight ticket for the Dems for the good of the Nation. Hopefully the real Republicans will take their Party back and I will once again be able to support their candidates, but until they done I am done with them. I would add that used to believe in dividing power in Congress for the sake of Balance, but having seen what happens when Dems hold one House and the Repubs hold the other nothing gets done on the Issues, so the only solution is to give one Party all the power, and right now giving it to the New Republican Party that power is not a good idea for the Nation.

I would do the same if I were you, there is no other choice, agreed. It's a little scary that both sides seem to have gone crazy at the same time.

Are you challenging me to a formal debate? I'd mop the floor with you in 5 posts.

No, I simply asked you a question, and now I'm watching you run from it. Typical.
I've never even seen a remark from you that didn't sound like the taunt of a 15 year old punk.

So, IOW, you fear answering what I asked you.
You're out of your league, Tanngrisnir. Stick to shallow end of the pool and use a floatie.

Thanks for mopping the floor with yourself so I didn't have to.

Sorry you weren't up to answering the question.

Yeup, must be something in the water or air.
I only hope, for the good of the Nation things settle down next year, I have had enough excitement in 2020 and we aren't done yet. If some wrote a book or moving discribing this year's events no one would think it would even be possible, now it is reality.

Patriotism is only becoming 'white supremacy' as part of the rat party narrative used to appeal to their mindless ****head voters. The same idiotic ****wits that proclaim founding fathers and monuments today as 'symbols of white supremacy' where just a few years ago celebrating them and attending them.

The only thing worse than the rat party using this to divide the country is the idiot leftist ****heads that fall for it.

The founding fathers were white supremacists. It's a fact. Deal with it.

It's balls on accurate though isn't it, you refuse to answer his question

Replace every instance of "the left" with "the Jews," and replace every instance of "the American people" with "the German people."

Glad I could help. Sad that you need to be told this.

Why the **** would we do that, that's not what he said? Why do you have to do that, to find it deplorable? Because what he said wasn't, that's the answer....

You have to stretch to make that ****ing claim....

Talk about being incredibly dishonest and lying about what was said....

There is no debate.

USA: White Supremacy and the Founding Fathers

The Founding Fathers Owned Slaves...Those who wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were in great part white supremacist slave owners. As a matter of fact, they enshrined slavery in the Constitution itself.

The Fugitive Slave Clause (Article IV, Section 2, Clause 3), clearly states that if a slave or indentured servant escape to another state, those in that other state are bound by law to return the escapee to his rightful owner, even if that state prohibits slavery.

The Fugitive Slave Clause of the Constitution was major to the famous 1857 Dred Scott case (2, 3) where a slave sued for his freedom arguing that he was freed once taken into a territory where slavery was banned. The Supreme Court found that Black people, free or slave, had no rights or privileges because the Constitution did not include Black people.

Let that sink in.

Steve Schmidt says 25 to 30% of the American public has always been crazy. We're certainly seeing that as fact in 2020.

I knew it would trigger you. Deal with it.

Deal with you being dishonest? Why? That's your cross to bear....you are a coward, and dishonest, kinda fits.....

He's revealing the essence of the position to you. If you can substitute the subject and/or object of any given statement and suddenly the position seems reprehensible, that indicates that the principle underlying that position is likewise reprehensible.

Just as a condolence, it's nothing personal and I realize it's not just the right doing this. I reserve harsh judgement for those making the same types of arguments on the left.

US patriotism is weird.
It's very showy, brash and in your face and you have a pledge of allegiance. You also idolise the flag to a creepy degree.

In the UK things are very different and while we love our country we do so quietly and without fuss. We don't have a pledge to say and if you ask most people what they think of the UK the answer is likely going to be "Yeah, it's alright".

I suppose, but for someone like him who was so goddamn adamant that WORDS MATTER......to try and change the words used so he could avoid answering a question, is idiotic at best.

Dishonest? Where have I been dishonest? If you can't see that Trump is excluding "the left" as part of "the American people," then it is you who are being dishonest. With yourself.

That you don't like the answer doesn't mean anything. To a person like you, of course.

You literally HAVE to change Trump's words...into what they are not.......for you to find them deplorable.

Yea, that's being dishonest.
