Some experts think wearing masks and social distsncing are prolonging the effect of the virus. Many Americans think masks are a waste of time and and a bogus burden, and the precipitous drop in transmissions and decreasing new infections in the USA are proof-positive that masks ARE useless. Ditch the mask - its all a hoax.
Masks are the new religion brought by the Fauci/MSM fear factor.

Not wearing a mask shows you have no respect or consideration for the well-being of others around you. And yes, that's deplorable. Why do you think rates of infection and death are falling through the floor in Europe? Did you say it's because we have been sensible and followed distancing guidelines instead of whining about 'rights' being violated? You would be correct. Wear a ****ing mask!
At least in the blanket general sense.

Many countries have recommended the use of fabric masks/face coverings for the general public. At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider (see below).
The new guidelines recommend that everyone who comes in close contact with others in crowded or close quarters, such as on a bus or in a store, wear a cloth mask composed of at least three different layers of material. People 60 or older, or those with underlying health conditions, should wear medical masks, such as surgical masks, in public, and physicians and health care providers should wear medical masks in all areas of a hospital, even if the area in which they are working has no COVID-19 patients, according to the organization.
Notice he underlined part.
If social distancing is practiced, it’s not recommended to wear the mask.
How is it thst reasonable people cannot disagree on this?
Also notice, the it’s reommended the mask have 3 layers. Nobody gives a ratsxass if it has three layers. I think the reason is that it’s about signaling your tribal allegiance for many.
Not wearing a mask means you are a filthy deplorable. It’s not about the effectiveness, it’s about who you are if not wearing one. It’s a sad stste of affairs.

The United States reported 55,220 new coronavirus cases Thursday, surpassing Wednesday’s record of 52,789, previously the largest single-day total since the start of the pandemic, according to data collected by The Washington Post.
Florida on Thursday reported 10,109 new cases of the coronavirus, marking a new single-day record for the state, which reported 6,563 cases on Wednesday. There were 68 deaths, for a total of 3,718. It’s the 25th consecutive day that Florida has set a record high in its seven-day rolling average. Georgia, one of the first states to loosen restrictions, joined Florida and several other states in setting single-day records of new cases. Georgia reported 3,472, up from 2,976 on Wednesday.
In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Thursday issued a statewide mandate requiring Texans to wear masks in public in any county with 20 or more positive covid-19 cases — a dramatic move that comes as cases in the state continue to climb. On Thursday, Texas reported 7,915 new cases of the coronavirus.

Nonsense. If you know you're Covid negative, there's virtually no reason to wear a mask other than to make others feel better. Masks mostly prevent you from giving it to other people. Social distancing is much more effective than mask wearing at stopping transmission. Just like you don't get too close to people with a cold or flu, you do the same now until Covid has run its course.
Would be nice to live in your world but I happen to reside in the real one.

The disease is working its way through the population. That may be exactly what we want to happen. The disease isnt getting stronger, our immunity systems are learning how to defeat it."However, relaxing preventive measures before a population reaches herd immunity may lead to a second wave of infection."
Guess what is happening....

if you social distance , you are not in close contact.Where else do you think that you need to wear a mask except when you come into close contact with people who are not your family? Do you not understand the recommendations by Dr Fauci?
if you social distance , you are not in close contact.
If you interact with someone in a store or a restaurant then you cannot stay 6 feet away from them.
What is so bothersome about being required to wear a paper face mask for a few minutes a day to porevent the spread of Covid19?
At least in the blanket general sense.

Um, what? This quote doesn’t contradict my claim at all.The header for your first link
"Scientists say we should wear masks to control the spread of COVID-19. Stanford experts share the evidence that informed the World Health Organization’s recommendations."
The header for your second link.
"This document is an update of the guidance published on 6 April 2020 and includes updated scientific evidence relevant to the use of masks for preventing transmission of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as well as practical considerations."
You got real selective in cherry picking the quotes. This is the very next section from you quote advising policy makers while including MANY caveats.
"However, taking into account the available studies evaluating pre- and asymptomatic transmission, a growing compendium of observational evidence on the use of masks by the general public in several countries, individual values and preferences, as well as the difficulty of physical distancing in many contexts, WHO has updated its guidance to advise that to prevent COVID-19 transmission effectively in areas of community transmission, governments should encourage the general public to wear masks in specific situations and settings as part of a comprehensive approach to suppress
SARS-CoV-2 transmission (Table 2)."
Neither of these articles claim anything like what you are asserting.
For the most part you can, the stores are limiting occupancy to conform to social distance.
I suspect most of you guys would have thought t u reasonable had someone asked you to wear a mask during flue season, while 10s of thousands were dying. Everyone has different opinions on what should be necessary.
If the WHO stops short of urgent pleas to wear masks, which it doesn’t, except for some situations like health care workers or close-quarter situations like camps, Then, It’s just a bit unhinged to call people stupid and be angry at them for not wearing.
