My body, my choice.

And my fifth and sixth paragraphs (to which you don't respond) were

I wear a mask (in appropriate locations) because I value the lives of other people and am willing to put up with some minor personal inconvenience to help safeguard those lives.

You don't think that people should wear masks (in appropriate locations) because you __DO__ / __DO NOT__ (PICK ONE ONLY) value the lives of other people and __ARE__ / __ARE NOT__ (PICK ONE ONLY) willing to put up with some minor personal inconvenience to help safeguard those lives.
(emphasis added and typos corrected)

Is there some reason (other than not wanting to admit that you do not value the lives of others) that you don't want to respond to those two paragraphs?

If "Yes." - what is it.

If "No." - thanks for the admission.

This is laughably stupid. If I'm Covid negative and observing social distancing, how could I be said to not value the lives of others? It's irrelevant anyway as you can't go into stores or restuarants here without a mask.

So the state decides what you may put into your own body, not you. That's the opposite of "my body, my choice."

Indeed it is, and the state will punish you if you start feeding Bourbon to babies.

Suppose it was a speech license, instead of a driver's license. If you make a political opinion without a speech license, then it's illegal - if you make the opinion with a speech license, then it isn't.

Indeed. Of course, the Constitution of the United States of America a "speech license" - doesn't it?

As you can see, requiring government permission to engage in something that you have a right to do, is a clear violation of your rights.

And, exactly, where do you find your "right" to spread a contagious disease?

PS - Although you clearly have the "right to free speech", I wouldn't advise you to stand outside the White House with an AK-47 (possession of "arms" is protected by the 2nd Amendment) and start screaming at the top of your lungs that you are going to shoot Donald Trump as soon as you see him (free speech is protected by the 1st Amendment) - because if you do that some government agent is going to take away your AK-47 (thus violating your 2nd Amendment rights) and cause you to be incarcerated simply for what you said (thus violating your 1st Amendment rights).

If you point a gun at me, how do I know that it isn't loaded?

How do you know that you are NOT infected with COVID-19 (unless you were just tested using the latest instant readout 100% accurate testing method)?

I know because I was recently tested and do not have Covid antibodies. Therefore, I do not and have not had Covid.

Congratulations.

Could you define "recently'?

You really think feed bourbon to babies is analagous to putting something into your own body?

No. Rights aren't granted. The first amendment protects the preexisting right to free speech by restricting how Congress would likely violate it:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Congratulations.

Month or so. I haven't been around anyone but my family, who are also negative, and have kept my distance from strangers. Plus, as I said, masks are a requirement for stores, etc. So, I'm not threatening anyone whatsoever.

That is good. But as a person of some intelligence you realize the test (if completely accurate) only tells you that you did not have the virus at that moment in time?

So, are we supposed to get tested weekly? Daily? And for how long? There comes a point where the prevention becomes more damaging than the disease. We need to be protecting the most vulnerable and letting the rest get back to normal life. Those who don't want to do so can stay home but nobody should pay them for doing so.

You ask good questions. I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. I do know that your successful test only tells us of your medical virus-free status at the time it was taken.

It's a discussion. I have been completely civil. I havent called you a liar, I questioned your statements. If you disagree, you debate it, you dont call me a liar. Calling someone a liar without 'proving it' is merely a diversion tactic.

I prefer not to beat a dead horse. I included specific instances where you have explicitly misrepresented my position several times, in statements in this very thread, often in direct conversation with you. I consider this 'arguing in bad faith', or maybe assigning me a straw-man argument at best. I'm not calling you a liar, but I consider you a bad faith debater.

You do know also that while wearing a mask is critical its about 90% effective in preventing the spread of virus. If someone is wearing a mask and coughing near you and you are not wearing a mask you can still become positive. So the test you did a month ago is nearly meaningless today.

I am a doctor, but I don't play one on TV. The PCR test for Covid is approximately 70% accurate-lots of false negatives, mostly because the test is not done properly. So unfortunately a negative test does not completely rule out Covid.

How long does it take to get infected with COVID-19?

How long ago was it that you were tested for COVID-19?

Is the time that it takes to get infected with COVID-19

  • ____ longer than;
    *
  • ____ the same as;
    *
    or
    *
  • ____ shorter than;

the time since you were tested to see if you were infected with COVID-19?

Nope, but it sure in analogous to putting something into someone else's body (like, let's take a really silly example, infecting someone else with COVID-19 because you don't wear a mask [which you won't do because wearing a mask "infringes on my freedom"]).

No. Rights aren't granted.

Right, and that means that slavery was always illegal in the United States of America and that women always had the right to vote in the United States of America.

The American "Bill of Rights" recapitulates the English "Bill of Rights (1689)" and the rights set out in that document were TAKEN (not granted).

Indeed it does, and if the First Amendment is amended so that it reads

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; -or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;- or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

then there is no longer any "right" to either freedom of speech or of the press and Congress could legislate all the restrictions on speech and/or the press it felt like.

Of course, the elimination of such an "essential freedom" would result in quite a different country than the United States of America. But, if that is what the people of the United States of America decided to do, then it would be their "right" to make such a change.

because it is the killing of innocents

A) it's entirely justified by the mother's needs.

B) what value is that 'innocence?" Please explain. The unborn cannot act, it cannot even form 'intent.' It is emptiness, a vacuum. It is no more 'innocent' than a flower or a couch. Why do you value such meaningless 'innocence?' Please, again explain?

And what is the woman guilty of????

(Note: first attempt at diversion is claiming I'm comparing the unborn to couches and flowers :roll:)

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

What is your answer to those of us who dont believe in making drugs illegal? Or prostitution? Or suicide/assisted suicide?

I didnt misrepresent... I asked you questions for you to clarify. WHy didnt you do so?

That is a discussion. It's not bad faith...it's asking you the tough questions that you can or cannot answer. Life is full of tough questions that we deal with, witho our personal justification, views, beliefs. Why arent you correcting my misrepresentations? Did you think that abortion is a simple, black and white issue???

And I have not intentionally misrepresented a single thing you have written so far. You also haven't presented anything unique yet either.

Please give me specific examples of my 'misrepresentations' and explain how I got them wrong. Try 2 examples.

You're proving my point... you already asked me to, and I already responded. Yet here we are.

I missed it or didnt catch up yet then. I've been gone on vacation for days. I will look at it.
Is there something specific in this thread?

FUN TRIVIA question.

There are three countries in North America (Canada, the US, and Mexico), which of those COUNTRIES make prostitution illegal?

NONE OF THEM DO

I almost choked on my lunch when I saw people protesting wearing masks and one somebody had a sign that read, my body, my choice.

Hypocrites. Totally against abortion, the my body my choice doesn't seem to apply to women only to the knuckleheads who refuse to wear a mask.

The gop has lost all credibility. Do as I say, not as I do.

There's a video showing posted signs in front of stores/restaurants warning customers about their policies on masks. I'm not sure if I should post the a link, it's it full of the ____ word, this is a good one;

"If you come into the store without a mask we'll have to take your temperature. We only have rectal thermometers"...
