Not one Democrat is on Mt. Rushmore

Not having any Democrat heroes of your own you'll try steal Republican ones. You joined the Democratic Party knowing of their racism, or you shoud have known, so you should man up and accept it. Trying to re-invent yourselves into something you're not really doesn't work.

The Democratic Party accepted racists back in the day. They changed when they embraced Civil Rights. They outgrew racism. They matured. They became civilized. Outright racists were no longer welcome in the Democratic Party.

Where'd the racists go? Which party welcomed them with open arms when they were no longer welcome in the Democratic Party?

Can you "man up" and tell us where the racists all went to? Which party accepted them? Can you tell us that?

Can you tell us why the deep south went from a Democratic stronghold to a Republican stronghold?

Can you tell us why the obvious racism of "White Power" Trump is acceptable in the Republican Party and not in the Democratic Party? Can you "man up" for that?

No, didn't think so.

In fact that's false. The racists remained in the Democratic Party.

The racists, apart from two of then, didn't go anywhere. As late as 1972 racist politicians like George Wallace had a legitimate shot at the Presidency, in the north as well as the south.

The people became better educated and race became less of an issue. Now the Democrats, in order to galvanize really stupid people into action, are making race an issue again.

No, didn't think so.
Can you explain what you mean by "White Power Trump" and why you put it in quotes?

"As late as 1972..."?

What happened after 1972? We know, don't we?

Why did this happen?

Ken Mehlman, Bush's campaign manager and Chairman of the Republican National Committee, held several large meetings in 2005 with African American business, community and religious leaders. In his speeches, he apologized for his party's use of the Southern Strategy in the past. When asked about the strategy of using race as an issue to build GOP dominance in the once-Democratic South, Mehlman replied,

Republican candidates often have prospered by ignoring black voters and even by exploiting racial tensions [...] by the '70s and into the '80s and '90s, the Democratic Party solidified its gains in the African-American community, and we Republicans did not effectively reach out. Some Republicans gave up on winning the African-American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization. I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong.

So some in the GOP tried to reverse their policy, but then Trump came along and doubled down on white resentment.

At least you apparently recognize that racism is wrong (unless you're just being deceitful). The GOP will only get well again when people within it stop denying its use of racism for political gain.

That was one politician sucking up to get the Black vote, just as the Dems do.

"We Republicans did not effectively reach out" meant more money in the pockets of Black leaders but nothing more for Black people, particularly in terms of better schools and safer neighborhoods. It's just as well this pandering never went anywhere.
