The White House is in the embarrassing position of having to explain why the President does not read his morning intelligence briefing, or PDB (Presidential Daily Brief). One supporter suggested that the President doesn't have time to read military intelligence and the briefer must make it simple for him.

In another age --meaning a very long time ago -- I was a Marine intelligence officer. I was the S-2 at 11th Marines, an artillery regiment. I am no expert on intelligence, but some things are just basic.

Unfortunately, it would appear that no one in the White House understands the basics of military intelligence.

Intelligence is not hard fact. Intelligence ranges from informed speculation to highly reliable supposition. It is why the source of the intell gives a reliability assessment of the intelligence, low confidence to high confidence.

When the intelligence is verified, it is no longer intelligence. It has become fact.

Here is the important part. If the President waits until intelligence becomes fact, the delay could be disastrous. When Obama gave the execute order for Bin Laden, that was not based factual knowledge of OBL's whereabouts. It was based on intell with high confidence.

Unfortunately, Trump is no ordinary President. His unwillingness to hear or cope with bad news is striking.

The White House insists that intelligence must be verified before it is presented to the President. "There were dissenting opinions within the intelligence community, and it would not be elevated to the President until it was verified." Access Denied

The disaster of waiting until intelligence became hard fact has already happened. 80 years ago the President waited for months of intelligence to become fact. The consequence: Our country became embroiled in an apocalypse, the most destructive war in the history of mankind, ending with the dropping of two atomic bombs.

Throughout much of 1941 there was intelligence that Japan will attack the United States. No one was sure where, but the Pacific Fleet based at Pearl Harbor was a very lucrative target for imperial Japan. Neither the President nor the military chiefs of staff acted. With the exception of the aircraft carriers, the Japanese destroyed the Pacific Fleet, Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. World War Two began for the United States.

All because intelligence was not presented to the President until it was verified.

Manafort went to jail for tax crimes. Flynn didnt go to jail but was accused of lying about the content of a call that the transcript shows was legit. No one. I repeat, no one was even charged with collusion/conspiracy/coordination with Russia. No one. Is that starting to sink in yet? I doubt it. No one. There was no collusion. Period. How do we know? It's an easy fact to confirm or deny. Just have a WH person in a half dozen agencies say, "No, that story is FALSE. This information has never been included on a PDB, period." First of all you don’t act on rumor and make policy changes - like sniping and killing Russian soldiers. It was in the process of being vetted until it went public and vetting became nearly impossible.
Second of all, the Taliban kills American soldiers without Russia’s help.
Thirdly, what are we doing in year 20 in Afghanistan?

There needs to be a full blown investigation on this.

I think Trump was told about the bounties and he was too busy checking his twitter feed to notice.


Then Putin, the ex KGB agent, noticed Trump didn't respond to the bounties, and Putin leaked the bounty information knowing it would hurt Trump and hurt American's faith in our democratic system.

Nope. It was already briefed to our NATO allies. It was in the President's PDB on 27 Feb 2020. Intel that hasn't been vetted doesn't make it all the way to the president's PDB. Obviously, the intel has validity or it would not have gotten this far. I guess Obama should not have gone after bin Laden, since that intel was only 50/50 in that case. You have no idea what you are talking about.
