So, how does the Seattle PD have any authority about anything after the CHAZ!

What happens in the next crisis?

Post-Corona, no job, applied hundreds of places, not a single bite...

If he takes up a life a crime, he knows where he is going to relocate! :)

Just Say'n....

If you're a criminal in Seattle, I suppose it would be.

I find nothing about BLM and Antifa funny.

Clearly you didn't get the title narrative... and I'm not going to stoop to explaining it to you.

Those who can read, and think will get it.

What about the white supremacists causing havoc in Seattle?

What about the white supremacists causing havoc in Seattle?

Wow! You've seen an American White-Supremacist?! That's a bit like seeing a spade-toothed beaked whale, they're really, really rare!

But, I suppose that such a type of person, if they've decided to go Criminal, would have as much freedom in Seattle as the the current Black-Supremacists.

I don't know that they'd dare show their faces there though, the Whites would be outnumbered by the Black-Supremacists 1000:1.

What is this all about? Was someone kidnapped and now being held in the CHOP?

*Sigh...

On the Conservative Forum, everyone got it.

So, for the dense,...

Scene 1: A girl is kidnapped from a school, and then time passed "hence ..."

Scene 2: The police are outside the bad guys hideout, pounding on the door, (KNOCKS!), The megaphone sounds, "Seattle PD(police), We know you're in there, Open Up and give your selves up.

Scene3: The criminals inside respond, "No. Were not gunna! Whatcha going to do about it!" and begin laughing outrageously!

Do you get it now?

Dude.

"Federal vs. State Kidnapping Laws

Most kidnapping cases are prosecuted on the state level. However, federal authorities will typically get involved and file federal charges if the kidnapping crosses state lines. Federal criminal code (18 U.S.C. Section 1201) makes kidnapping a serious felony offense, with prison sentences of 20 or more years, depending on prior convictions and the circumstances of the case. Federal law prosecutes international parental kidnapping under a different code (18 U.S.C. Section 1204), allowing for three-year prison sentences upon conviction."

Too many big words. Just embrace the funny.

I suppose addressing the apparent and inevitable erosion of the authority of the Seattle Police is beyond some people.

I guess I was expecting too much.

You posted something stupid and you think it's supported because a bunch of dip****s in a right wing echo chamber agreed with it.

OK. So this is some kind of hypothetical and not an actual event that's occurring now.

I guess I understand the point.

In defense of the liberals I would just like to make sure that you understand they are not proposing that cities go without protection for the citizens. In a scenario such as you describe they will send a social worker to the residence and the social worker will discuss the motivations for the kidnapping, the feelings of everyone involved that lead to the kidnapping and the possible solutions to the disagreement. At that point there will be a community vote with regard to whether the girl deserved to be kidnapped or not and the people will decide whether she would be better off with the kidnappers or with whoever she was with previously.

I'm a retired cop and I would be the first one to admit that no police department is perfect. How could it be, its made up of people and there is no such thing as a perfect person. That shouldn't keep us from seeking perfection, but only tempered with the reality that it is unlikely we'll ever attain it.

So, acknowledging there are problems and some of them very serious we also acknowledge they are, statistically, few in number. Truly, they are and the notion that they are not is a boldfaced LIE. Millions upon millions of police interactions with the public are categorized in follow-ups as fair and professional. The ones that aren't need to be dealt with according to the severity of the breach. Formal charges, due process and incarceration should be the result for the worst of them if the officers are found guilty.

On the other side of the coin, this "CHOP" business is bad precedent. No where should there be allowance for individuals to establish "zone's of control" outside the authority of the recognized governing body. Mayors and governors are duly elected and if they allow people to nullify their election by removing their ability to govern a specific, defined, area of land they establish autonomy and challenge sovereignty, negating the local laws, statutes and the Constitution of that state. It is literally a mini coup.

Not good...

It was a 6 block radius and nothing would still have stopped the cops from entering that building  Cops could still enter the zone and defend lives, etc.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

The thing I was attempting to illustrate, which seems to have gone completely over the heads here, but not elsewhere, is that the actions of the mayor have undermined the authority of the police, and when the next crisis occurs, violent domestic dispute, bank robbery, someone gone postal, .... there are lots of situations, where the authority of the police and their ability to always WIN in a contest of wills... in the minds of the criminal element, is gone.

The action of Allowing the CHAZ has undermined the Seattle Police's Authority in all regards. Without that authority, they are much more likely to actually have to resort to lethal force... and people will get hurt.

Or just let the criminals keep the girl, I suppose...

It's the direction America is headed. We are a nation FAR more concerned with how people feel than we are about how they act. It's just the way it's gonna be until someone gets an eye poked out.
