According to TMZ, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) - which has one black guy in a leadership position - "is no longer using the word "master" to hype bedrooms and bathrooms on its Multiple Listing Service."

I would have guessed a more sexist origin.

Either way, I'm not opposed to us evolving past that.

I can add that in the old large houses in my neighborhood, realtors no longer refer to the 'servant's quarters'. Those areas are now refereed to as the 'maid's quarters'. It's been going-on for awhile, though.

In Africa, I had "master bedroom" thrown, legitimately, in my face. What could I say, "hey, I didn't name it that"? I knew where it came from. To have it gone will be nice. Then it's not mine anymore.
 
I don't think "master bedroom" has anything to do with slavery.

Absolutely. Just removing a black icon like Nancy Green from pancake syrup bottles, has improved the lives of black Americans more than ANYTHING the Democrat Party has done in it's entire history.

Correct

The phrase “master bedroom” isn’t derived from plantation farming and slavery. Still, a 2013 survey of major D.C. home builders found that 60% of them have ceased using the phrase. The word master is also inherently male, making the term “master bedroom” gendered as well. Add those to things you never thought you’d learn on a real estate blog.

The name derives from the fact, that they're usually the largest of the available rooms and were usually built for the head of house.

It's an idiotic move either way. These people are just trying to buy as many brownie points, seeing how much they can out-woke one another.
 
When I was working, machine circuit boards were sometimes called master and slave boards. I guess that will be gone. One circuit board is subservient to the master. All that is important in industry now is "diversity"

which is affirmative action turbocharged.

How does such changes actually effect you? I mean you guys bitch about SWJ's like it actually effects you. It doesn't effect you at all but you will whine far more than any SJW about it all.
